In the old market area of Siem Reap city, you will find some streets near the river that alternate stalls of all kinds with Cambodian food stalls, bars, and restaurants. They are easy to distinguish, as they usually have mostly yellow awnings with Khmer Food inscribed on them along with a phone number for home delivery. This is why there is a large number of motorcycles parked right in front of each of them. Although the street lighting in Siem Reap is quite poor, especially in this area, there is not a dangerous atmosphere. We walked around the area without any problems, the only ones attacking us were the mosquitoes, thanks to the lack of light in the area. These small restaurants resemble those well-known in Thailand, with differences in preparation. While in Thailand rice is boiled only with water, in Cambodia it is cooked with coconut milk, and they also use a lot of lemon to season dishes.
