Sumo Sushi And Hibachi - side

Great lunch specials with good deals. Food was good overall, but nothing over the top. The ton katsu was overdone and a little tough, the house salad dressing is perfect and the sushi is pretty standard.

The dishes we tried here were pretty darn good! We decided to do a “taste of Chicago” and try small plates throughout town. We got the gyoza and a side of fried rice- firstly the gyoza’s were AMAZING. We did ask for them to be pan fried a little longer- but they had no problems doing that for us. I bought the Chicken Yaki with Udon noodles and it was delicious, along with a small salmon roll I split with a friend.

This place literally saved my life during the pandemic. Don’t ever let them go out of business. Ellen is the BEST. I mean, just look at the food. If you’re looking for hibachi, in the city, this is the spot. Stay away from the overpriced Benihana stuff — call Sumo right away!
