Bamilak was so helpful with us choosing a dish! We throughly enjoyed her selections as well as her and Carltons hospitality! We loved the food and will definitely be back! 11/10 View all feedback.
What Elizabeth Tugyi doesn't like about Demera:
This place looks promising but I didn’t get to try the food. The host had an attitude when I couldn’t hear what she said. She sounded so annoyed and irritated when she had to repeat herself. Funnily, I had to repeat myself to her because she couldn’t hear me either to add me to the waitlist. Her attitude left a bad taste so we just decided to go eat elsewhere. View all feedback.

My first time trying Ethiopian! It was such an array of various NEW flavors I had never experienced from the salad to the main dish. Highly recommend.
There's a reason Demera is the go-to place for Ethiopian food in Chicago, it's excellent. Every time I've been here, I've never had a bad meal and the service is exquisite. Plenty of options for vegetarians as well, where you can go back multiple times to try something new. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: There is an entire vegetarian and vegan section, so there's plenty for anyone with dietary restrictions.
We were a party of 5, but only 3 of us arrived on time. No problem, the hosts promptly seated us and made us feel like old friends. After our entire party arrived, the server came over and also befriended us. We had questions, and she was patient and knowledgeable. We first ordered a pitcher of the melon magarita made with Midori. I don't know how Ethiopian that was, but it was really good. Next, we ordered the Messob appetizers. We all enjoyed it, I liked the sauce that came with it. After another pitcher of margaritas, we ordered the sambussa sampler. Everything on our was good, but the collard greens, lentils, and lamb were my favorite. We really enjoyed it, and can't wait to come back.
Wasn’t a fan of the salad that wasn’t cut up in small enough pieces to be eaten with injera.
