The restaurant was very busy, full of people but worth waiting. The soups are very tasty, served as a big portions with plenty of bread, sour cream and chilli. They look and taste very traditional. There won't be space for a main course as one feels stuffed after only one plate of soup. It's a place a little bit outside of the city center but I definitily recommend Kon Tiki as a nice experience of Romanian cuisine. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Kon Tiki Restaurant:
They "accidentally" put extra money for a dish we haven't ordered, also we received bread, sour cream and little portions of garlic sauce ( without being asked!) which were included in the paycheck :/ This is the last place on Earth I would eat. View all feedback.
The food is great, at good prices. If you don 't know where to eat, this place should be on your list, but as an disperate situation . That 's because the atmosphere it 's not really ok. Mostly this place is old, from people who come there to...restaurnat design. It looks more like a street bar (or bodega how it says in romanian) than a restaurant. Beside that, the place is really small (it has around 10 tables) . If you ever asked how restaurants looked back in the communism, here you can see it.
Fantastic and tasty food. No fancy stuff, just honest home made authentic food. Highly recommended. Friendly staff and good price for the food.
The place is outside the touristy part of Sibiu but getting there makes an interesting walk through the Lower Sibiu, past the local green market and across the river. I got in and hang around surrounded by about 10 people waiting for the table. Than...decided to let the waiter know and I was soon given a place at the shared table with a Romanian family. This place is famous for its creamy tripe chorba (thick soup), but there was plenty of choice for a vegetarian like me. Thankfully they have a menu with translations in French, English and German and I chose a veggie chorba which was fabulous followed by the Mamaliguta (polenta) with cream and cheese) which was also great. Regrettably I got too full for a Papanasi, a traditional doughnut, stuffed with sweet cheese and jam, which waiters were serving to the other guests and which were hard to resist.
Guys ! If you will staying for a few days in Sibiu you must visit this small restaurant ! Not for a romantic dinner but for the great and tastefully“ciorba de burta” ever eat in my life ! You can eat as much you will...can and the price is not expensive ! Don’t look for some extraordinary services ! Thanks with few and you will not be disappointed !
Cheap and good food. Unfortunately the smântână on our papanași was, apparently, not good anymore. One whole day with diarrhea, for both of us.
