I have tea with interest the previous reviews. We found the experience very good, firstly the staff were really really good, very polite and extremely nice. We shared the ox cheek starter which very good and both went with rump steak, again very good. Room is lovely a and old to sit in, although if u sit near windows they can be draughty (we asked to move which no problem), overall very impressive and absolutely no i... View all feedback.
What rowlands1893 doesn't like about The Oak Room:
I ate at this restaurant while staying at the hotel, and it was clear that the staff were only putting in the minimum effort expected for their minimum wage. Given the price, I would suggest investing in training for the staff on how to interact with customers and be more courteous. View all feedback.
We were eventually seated at a table after waiting for someone to check us in. The restaurant had a self-service setup with only scrambled eggs available, which were of poor quality and overcooked. The tea and coffee were dispensed from a machine and tasted odd. The crockery provided was very small. By the time we made our own toast, waited for our tea, and received our breakfast, everything was cold. Overall, if we were to stay here again, I would not choose to have breakfast at this restaurant. We heard others expressing the same sentiment. It would be better to find higher quality and cheaper options in town.

I started with the mackerel fillet and followed with the belly pork. The mackerel fillet was small, like a postage stamp, and the belly pork was overcooked while the broccoli was undercooked. However, the wine was enjoyable.
Stayed at the hotel and used the restaurant food was fabulous, service was excellent very clean restaurant and very attentive staff.
Stayed as b b but had a meal. Ordered off the menu. Asked what was in it. Was advised by the waitress so ordered. Omg she tried to kill me. Had to leave to be sick. Not at any point did she say the meal had pasta. I'm wheat intolerant they did not cater gluten free. It was supposed to be king prawns with toms peppers. Never again. And the breakfast was not good either. Salty bacon. Wheat sausages. No eggs. Cheap beans. We used up vouchers we had for xmas last year. Lovely area. But not best hotel restaurant.
