Contribute FeedbackThe Leaking Tap has experienced a rollercoaster of reviews, reflecting a tumultuous transition in management. While some patrons rave about the exceptional food quality and generous portions, particularly praising the Sunday carvery and homemade chips, others lament disappointing visits marred by limited menu options and abrupt service. Issues with reservations and food availability have frustrated many, especially during peak times like Christmas. Despite these challenges, a few loyal customers appreciate the warm atmosphere and are hopeful for improvement under new ownership. For now, The Leaking Tap invites both newcomers and regulars to experience its evolving culinary journey.
The hunters chicken was amazing, the best I've had. Fish and chips was good as well along with the pie. Clean plates!!!!
When we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted with many tables and a specials board. However, we were told that they no longer serve food since the chef had moved to Spain. We were also informed that if we had arrived 10 minutes earlier, we could have ordered takeout and eaten it in the pub. We decided against it though, as the atmosphere in the room was gloomy and the wine we had was the worst I've had in years.
We recently visited a restaurant claiming to have the best carvery in England, but it didn't come close to the fantastic carvery at Leaky Tap. The vegetables were beautiful and the roast potatoes were perfect. The staff were always friendly and the carvers clearly love what they do. Keep up the great work!
I am not able to review my visit to The Leaking Tap, as I was unable to make a reservation. I sent an e-mail in July, enquiring about making a reservation for 20 people in September, (8 weeks prior to our visit) without a reply. I then telephoned 2 weeks later, (6 weeks prior) with the same enquiry, the phone got answered, I said “Hello, I’d like to enquire.....” and the phone was put down. I tried again, this time I got to speak to a staff member, I gave her the date and number of diners, and she told me she would call me back, good enough she did, in less than 2 minutes. “I’m sorry, we won’t be able to take your booking as I don’t think we will have enough staff on that night” was the reply, ok I said, “but could I call back closer to the date to see if you will have enough staff?” I asked. “No! We won’t be taking your booking” and the phone went dead. Very rude and abrupt phone manner of the staff member.
The carvery at this restaurant is great, and the pub atmosphere is pleasant. The service is friendly, and you can get a decent meal for less than ten pounds. It's always a bonus to have Peroni on draught as well.
