amazing eating and atmosphere, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I can no longer recommend restaurant, it was really so good. the children enjoyed their grilled cocktail and we both enjoyed our main dishes, the naan brot was the best we ever had. Thank you. View all feedback.
What Aaron Cook doesn't like about Spice Of Shifnal:
not our first visit in shifnal balti and definitiw not our last. eating is to die and as long as they are not in a hurry, they are for a great night out. the restaurant was almost full, so we had to wait a while between the curses, but since the portions are quite generous, which was a good thing. it is also licensed so they can have a few cobras to wash everything. I would recommend the chef specialties as they are... View all feedback.
Just as we were seated a group of women came in who were very loud and we could tell they were intoxicated. They sat down, as a family we decided we would find somewhere else to go. We let the staff know that we were going to find somewhere else to go for dinner, however on hearing this we were seated somewhere else. After this, the women were informed of their behaviour, and subsequently left the restaurant of their own choice. We can safely say that the food here was without fault and we will definitely be returning! We really had a great experience here. As the other curry house in Shifnal was closed, both the restaurant and takeaway service were very busy, but despite this, the staff were very friendly and attentive.
We like our curries, and have them wherever we can. This was genuinely the nicest meal I think we have ever shared. I am not exaggerating when I say I was on the verge of tears over how nice this curry was. Completely authentic, fresh, each dish felt bespoke, great range of options for vegetarians.
Shropshire Star Review Reviewer's rating Emma Kasprzak enjoys a selection of Indian dishes which were expertly cooked and servedThe balti is often considered the UK's national dish, so it was with that in mind that my boyfriend and I set off on a trip to Shifnal. The Shifnal Balti has been a mainstay of the town's eating out options for many years with both dining in and takeaway meaning it is popular with those wanting a night out as much as with those on their way back from one.The venue, in Broadway, is easily accessible with on street parking outside and it is neatly divided into two restaurant sections and a takeaway area so that diners can enjoy their food away from people picking up a meal. The restaurant has been modernised in recent years and the contemporary feel fits in with the new-look menu. For a Tuesday night the place was fairly busy with a good atmosphere which was helped with Indian music and trendy lighting panels on the wall that change colour. To whet our appetites we both had a papadom to start with a selection of chutneys and pickles.
Gluten free, I don't think so. I went to the Shifnal Balti in July as a business dinner and explained to the waiter that I was a coeliac and needed to have a gluten free meal, he said it would be ok and to speak to the server, I wanted to ascertain before I sat down if I could be catered for, had I been told that the choice was so limited then I would have left the restaurant to find another venue who could. When I spoke to the server he said I had a choice of either fried chicken or tandoori chicken. I asked if there was anything else I could have and he said he would ask the manager. Everyone else got served their food and I had to sit with just a glass of coke. The server did not bother to come back to me at any point during the meal. I am sick of restaurants saying they can cater for gluten free when they don't and think offering little choice is acceptable. This isn't some fad diet that I fancy following, I have to follow it for medical reasons. Shame on you Shifnal Balti.
