What Brian UK doesn't like about Royal Fountain Inn:
Very unfriendly barperson today. Asked for prices of wine and was directed to a price list at the end of the bar. Chose a 175 ml of pinot grigio at £3.50 but was charged £6 on the till. When I questioned this I was told the prices were increased. She rolled her eyes, not for the first time that I came into the bar. Surely the prices listed in the bar should be correct? As frequent diners at The Fountain, we appreciate the high quality and beautiful presentation of the consistently delicious food, as well as the friendly and welcoming staff. While parking may initially appear challenging, there is a large public car park located behind the Talbot, just a short 5-minute walk away. It can be accessed via Childe Road/Love Lane or The Hurst. Additionally, less mobile guests can be dropped off in the designated no parking bay in front of the pub. Don't miss out on this gem if you are in the area!
I apologize for the mistake in my rating. It was not intentional. I hope you can understand.
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The home cooked lunch, staff, and atmosphere were all fantastic. The sounds of the place were especially enjoyable. It is definitely a great place to visit.
The restaurant has been recently renovated and offers a wide selection of good beers in a pleasant atmosphere. The beer garden and marquee make it an enjoyable venue for all types of weather.
We stopped by for a drink on a Friday afternoon and enjoyed the great atmosphere and good drinks, plus it was dog-friendly. We ended up staying for dinner, but it was a mixed experience. The pie was amazing and all the components on the plate were cooked perfectly, but we were disappointed with the gluten-free option for the burger. The burger was served between two slices of sandwich bread and was very rare. We would consider coming back, but we would avoid ordering the burger. Overall, it was a nice atmosphere both in the afternoon and evening.
