I highly recommend the crab cakes, the best one I've tried on lbi
This is my husband‘s favorite restaurant on the island. He’s always asking if we can go. Highly recommend! The seafood platter is his favorite, he gets it every time.
Delicious! An LBI staple that should not be missed. It gets busy, but they do takeout too!
We stopped in around 6 PM to find a line at the door. The couple ahead of us was seeking a table for eight and were told that it would be 90 minutes or more. We were a little discouraged at this point but when the hostess got to us asked about a seating preference we were immediately seated outside. Not bad! We are leaving only three stars for atmosphere because we never saw the inside of the place. We called in advance and found this to be a BYOB restaurant. Apparently this is widely known among the regulars as it seemed that everyone waiting for a table had wine with them. We started off with oysters on the half shell which were served with cocktail sauce, horseradish and a vinaigrette. Our dinner entrees included fried scallops and jumbo lump crab cakes. We finished off the meal with a blueberry crisp ala mode. Everything was wonderful; we will definitely go back again.
Best clam chowder I’ve ever had (and I grew up in New England)
**Dining at Ship Bottom Shellfish: A Coastal Culinary Experience** Ship Bottom Shellfish offers a vibrant atmosphere and a commitment to great service, making it a popular spot among locals and visitors alike. Guests enjoy delicious seafood, particularly the blackened scallops and crab dishes, though some menu items like the fish tacos have received mixed reviews for their portion sizes. Patrons appreciate the BYOB policy and the delightful outdoor seating, even if the views are limited. Overall, while experiences vary—from exceptional meals to some disappointing dishes—many diners recommend trying this bustling eatery for its fresh seafood and attentive staff.

Great little place on LBI. My family always goes there for the crab legs. Great to sit inside and cool off and have a great meal. Menu is big enough for anyone to find something they like. Not very good food, service or attitude. I ordered 3 jumbo lump crab cake sandwiches to go at 6pm. I was told they wouldn't be ready until 7:30pm. I initially called back to ask if I got it wrong and the girl meant 6:30pm and I was flippantly told no 7:30pm. We arrived at 7:20pm to pay hopefully pick up. I don't believe they even took the jumbo lump crab cabs out of the case to cook them until 7:30pm. However, they really looked not busy kind of empty for Ship Bottom Shellfish. The jumbo lump crab cakes weren't ready until about 7:40pm. There was also a very fishy smell inside. But, we took them home to eat, the rolls they were on were old, stale hard like rocks. Plus, the jumbo lump crab cakes weren't that jumbo or anything special kind of bland. Hardly any fries for my son with these little not so great generic brand of tartar sauce containers, and our cole slaw was also very bland. The pricing was high even for LBI. I've have had much better crab cakes in LBI at a lower cost with much nicer staff friendlier service. Of course being part of the TideTable Group all the publicity they've received lately, I'm sure they really don't care. No need to return or recommend to anyone.

Had Fish tacos for lunch only gave you two small tacos with one tiny piece of fish on each. Didn’t even give a lot of fries to make up for it. Left hungry. Will not go back there again. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $20–30 Food: 2 Service: 4

A delightful spot we don’t frequent nearly as much as we should. The food is consistently delicious, the staff is friendly, attentive, and quick, and it's a BYOB place, which we love. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait before being seated.
This restaurant is really impressive! We only waited about 15 minutes, and more than 5 of those minutes turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I ordered the red tuna salad, while my kids had the chicken skewers and scallop dinner. The food was surprisingly delicious! We will definitely be back.
The staff and service were excellent. The black scallops were fantastic, but the lobster roll and crab pack were just average. The lobster roll was slathered in mayo, and it came with a tomato and salad for $30.
The food was really good and the staff was friendly. You can eat outside or inside. Some parking spaces are available next to the restaurant
6/2022: The service at the counter was very pleasant and helpful. Keep up the good work. Ordered the soft shell crab sandwich to go for $23. The crab itself was simply okay and the fries were crispy and chunky. The bread buns for the sandwich was not good. I would not order this again, thus the three stars. The food coming out of the kitchen looked very mediocre. Enjoy what you can.

Really chill place. We had about a 15 min wait that ended up being more like 5 which was a nice surprise. I had the seared tuna salad and my kids had chicken tenders and scallop dinners. Surprisingly alot of food! We will definitely be back.
Great staff and service. Blackened scallops were great but the lobster roll and crab wrap were average. The lobster roll was covered in Mayo, a tomato and lettuce priced at $30.
Food was really good and staff was friendly. You can eat outside or inside. Some parking available next to restaurant

A fun place that we don't visit often enough. The food is always super yummy, the staff is always, friendly, attentive and fast moving, it's BYOB and we always leave satisfied. Just be prepared to wait a bit before being seated.

On our last day on Long Beach Island, we craved seafood and found this restaurant just a few blocks away. It was busy, and we waited around twenty minutes to get seated, but the beautiful evening made the wait enjoyable. The staff was welcoming, took our order correctly, and the food was excellent. It was well worth the wait, and we will certainly come back.
The food at Ship Bottom Shell Fish is outstanding. I had a steak that was perfectly cooked and seasoned, paired with a crab cake full of meat and free of fillers. Their coleslaw was also very tasty. The place was busy the night I went, and it's easy to see why!
