What User doesn't like about Le Petit:
This place serves mediocre food that is a combo between semi-French and semi-Italian and American. It was interesting to see the people who seem to appreciate this not-really-French five-outta-ten food. I think you can tell a lot about the restaurant based on the clientele it attracts. There seem to be lots of old people from the area. Seems like this group thinks this is good French food. Makes sense. The filet mign... View all feedback.
The food was decent enough, I might give it 7 or 8 out of 10. But in the end, when the bill came, we noticed that EVERY SINGLE ITEM WAS MARKED UP $3-$10 HIGHER as the prices on the menu! So we got $39 for our $32 scallops and $50 for our $45 steak etc... Luckily my eagle-eyed dad caught it! When we reported to the server, she was apologetic, but her explanation was at best sketched. She said they marked everything for Mother's Day in her system and forgot to repair everything afterwards. Remember that we had dinner on Friday after Mother's Day, so this was 5 days later. So all the others who paid inflated prices there during the 5-day window, unless we were to notice the first? I guess we'll never know the truth. At the end, we saved about $35, but the price increase was a big shutdown, especially in today's inflation economy. I would not come back or recommend this restaurant on this experience.
The reviews all made the place seem delicious but my snails were not flavorful but slightly chewy. The serving of the food and presentation was so sloppy I couldn?t take pictures. Also, my party?s food was not cooked to their liking, they asked for medium steaks and got medium well and my other attendee got the pasta which was stiff because it was cold and had very little sauce on it. My ?crispy? duck was so soft and drenched in orange sauce it made me sick. I took four bites to give it a chance and didn?t even finish or take my food home. It was my birthday dinner, I specified that when I made the reservation and while there it was lower grade service with indirect eye contact and long waits between waiter visits like they didn?t want to come to our table. This was a waste of a birthday dinner in LA and a huge disappointment.
A small, busy French bistro. The LE PETIT RESTAURANT is divided into several intimate spaces. The largest room is the nearest to the kitchen and has tables and chairs. Our table of six was set on an enclosed patio, just outside the entrance to the main room. After the sun set, the street sounds softened. Very much like the Champs-Élysées, in Paris. Our waiter, Jose, is knowledgeable, friendly, and remarkably easy going. First drinks and warm crusty French bread, served with spreads of sweet butter, and dabs of roasted Egg Plant, Hummus, and Charissa. For medical reasons I must limit my alcohol intake. However, the wine list is extensive and I'm told very good. Our well plated meals were delivered in about 30 minutes. All came as ordered. My vegan pasta primavera, with angel hair pasta and par-cooked veggies in a light tomato sauce was magnifique. It had a wonderful texture and rich flavor. The others at the table had ordered steak with french fries, seafood paella, crispy duck, and broiled salmon. Each liked their meal, wishing only the duck had been a bit crispier. Servings are large. Most took home about half their meal. Desserts were large and delicious. None were vegan. We managed to eat, sit, and talk for almost 3 hours. That's when the chairs became uncomfortable. Except for the occasional street noise it was a quiet inviting atmosphere. Just like Paris. Everything is wheelchair accessible. Street parking is available but very tight. Valet parking is $9.
I have to apologize!!!! Eccidently I wrote a negative review here, instead of Petit Troy's, where we had bad experiences. Le Petit is highly recommended. Great food, great service, beautiful ambience.
Amazing place small and very welcoming. The food was amazing, we had 4 different appetizers 2 Entrees and 2 Dessert of course also wine. Each dish that was served was delicious
