The restaurant is beautiful and the staff were very attentive and accommodating. We ordered the seasonal pre-Christmas lunch, which was amazing - the portions were large, the food was hot, tasty, and well presented. The restaurant is dog-friendly, as is the entire hotel. We will definitely be staying here in the future.
Upon arriving at the restaurant at the scheduled time, we were informed by the person working at the bar that they were closed and not serving any food. This was a humiliating situation, as I had explained that I had made a booking over the phone. I was questioned about who I had spoken to, which made me feel like I was being accused of lying. If I had been informed that the restaurant was closed when I called, I would have made alternate arrangements for my husband's birthday celebration. I have dined at Earls restaurant multiple times in the past and always had a positive experience before the pandemic. However, it seems that there may have been changes in management since then. As a result of this disappointing experience, I will not be returning to this restaurant. My husband and I were left feeling embarrassed and let down. The restaurant needs to improve their booking system to avoid similar incidents in the future.
