In late August my husband and I visited Shepherdstown, WV for the first time. One afternoon we went to the Brewing Company bar for appetizers and a few beers. What a beautiful hotel and dining location. We met Sam, a local bartender and he was most helpful in acquainting us with the Bavarian brews that we thoroughly enjoyed. Sam also was a wonderful ambassador for the town and the Shepherdstown area as well. He gave... View all feedback.
What Jen B doesn't like about Bavarian Inn, Resort And Brewing Company:
Enjoyed the convience of the location and the infinity pool. Alex the bartender was great and the grilled chicken was amazing. The resort could definitely use some upgrades and a power wash. And the pool was only open until 8 on 90 degree days. The biggest disappointment was the restaurant. We were both excited to have the filet for our honeymoon. The sauce was thin, bland and greasy. The filet itself was chewy and a... View all feedback.
I had visited Antietam battlefield and was driving home when I saw the sign for the Inn and Restaurant. I was thrilled at the potential of German food so thought I'd check it out. I ordered the special which was a tasty stroganoff. Then an apple strudel for dessert. Both were very tasty and would have earned a 5 star rating. Except for a few other issues in Service and upkeep. Upon entering I was asked if I wanted more formal or casual dining? I stated formal and was seated in the dining room with white table cloths and proper place settings at a table near the large windows. The hostess didn't notice the ant crawling over the bread plate. I realized he window had a bit of condensation and saw other ants. So I switched to the other side of the table. With a whole wall of windows why sit me at the cloudy window? The food arrived quickly and the server vanished just as quickly. Getting additional butter or my beverage refilled was an after thought. A manager checked on me as I finished my entree. I mentioned the ants and got the obligatory apology/acknowledgement. He sent the server back with butter and a beverage refill. I do eat in formal dining establishments from time to time and look forward to the opportunity. This did not hit the mark in either service or upkeep. I had thought I would take my father there for a holiday meal. I'm not certain of that at this point.
Had to wait over an hour for food to arrive. Sauerbratin meat was dry. Kraut was off.
Hunter, dianna, and katarina are amazing. Excellent drinks at the bar and great people. Food drinks: Great bartenders with great drinks
Rooms nice. Food just so so and was expecting much more after all the hype about their grat dining room. Thr Bavarian brothers beer was very lackluster too. The pool was outstanding though!
This was our second visit to the Bavarian inn, and our first in the summer. As with our previous visit, the drinks, food, and staff in the bar and restaurant were phenomenal. Where we were disappointed is with the upkeep and cleanliness of the property. There was a lack of cleanliness in the rooms and a general lack of upkeep around the property- missing and dirty tiles in the pool, peeling paint on the buildings and sealant on the side walks, a broken firepit left outside instead of removed, trash bags left in front of the buildings all day, empty drink glasses/towels left laying around all day (and in some cases our whole stay). While these things individually may not seem like an issue, all together they create a less than desirable atmosphere when you’re paying the price for a 4-star hotel. We unfortunately heard similar opinions by other people during our stay as well. This place has the potential to be a wonderful resort, but there seems to be a lack of pride and lack of staff training when it comes to maintaining the property.
