Smorgas - Sheffield
Smorgas
Description
Smorgas was an independent coffee house that brought a delightful taste of Scandinavian food and culture to the heart of Sheffield. Known for its commitment to quality, Smorgas served locally roasted coffee from Frazer’s Coffee Roasters, ensuring that every cup was a true reflection of craftsmanship. The café was proud to offer traditional rye and sourdough breads, all baked locally, which formed the perfect foundation for their signature dishes. At Smorgas, the trademark open-faced sandwich took center stage. With a blend of tradition and innovation, each sandwich featured a slice of bread topped with a spread—ranging from butter and pate to cream cheese—and complemented with an array of toppings, including cold cuts, fish, or fresh vegetables. Guests could indulge in both classic versions and unique interpretations, making each visit a new culinary experience. Nestled at 401 Glossop Road, opposite the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Smorgas was the ideal spot for a warm and inviting atmosphere, open Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Although Smorgas is now permanently closed, it will be fondly remembered by all its customers and followers for its delicious offerings and vibrant Scandinavian flair. Thank you to everyone who made the journey to enjoy what was crafted with love at Smorgas.
