The name change to 1937 was a fantastic decision; it feels much more welcoming to people of all ethnic backgrounds. The atmosphere is modern and trendy, reminiscent of the spots we like to visit in Atlanta. Everything from the new name to the inviting ambiance, delicious food, and beautifully designed bar was impressive. We will definitely be returning! What Nicole Binder dislikes about 1937 Spirits Eatery:
We waited for 15 minutes before being greeted and having our drink order taken, even though the restaurant was mostly empty. The drinks were not impressive, but we didn’t mention it. We were told our food was on a 10-minute hold, despite ordering the pimento cheese dip, which is just a scoop of cheese served with packaged crackers. It’s unclear what the delay was for. Throughout our visit, we were not checked on and... View all feedback.

Atmosphere was great! Even with kids. The staff accommodated my toddler so well. But I did get food poisoning for the poke. I even mentioned to the staff that it tasted fishy. A few of the other dishes were Heavy on the sugar (even foods you wouldn't think should be sweet). The staff did get me a new pork chop which they charged me for which is fine, but I'm so nauseous that I haven't been able to try it and They also didn't take the poke off the bill until after I tracked down the server and trey questioned me on why I shouldn't pay for it. (Of course they were nice about it though).Over all, I really want to like the place. And we may try something else another time, just maybe not the poke salad.Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendlyWheelchair accessibility: They have a ramp inside to get outside patio i thought was very thoughtful
The decor is super cool. Excellent job updating and preserving an older building. The menu looks amazing it was super hard to choose. We both settled on the grouper. Ah, maybe it was just a bad day for fish there, but we won't get it again. We had to send one back because we couldn't cut it. Fish should flake by itself. They did replace it. The cocktail menu is delightful and delicious. Coming back for drinks and try the chicken sandwich.
Ambience is A+. Great vibe they even had a DJ for jags game day event. Service was dialed in. Ordered smoked fish dip which was actually quite good for fish dip. At this point we even texted friends that they should check it out. Then the entrees arrived. The unicorn fish entree was difficult for my wife to cut with a knife and fork. Didn’t know this was possible for a fish entree. The buttered kale was a gut punch. The swamp slaw was heavy and bland. My sons poached eggs came out cold. My blackened grouper was heavy on the seasoning and the oil. Overall great vibe for drinks and an app before dinner or during a game. Would not go back for a meal. We love San Marco and wanted to love this place but they need to revamp their primary menu.
The food surpassed my expectations. Their slaw selection looked awesome, I just can't do onions so I couldn't try. Quail, shrimp toast, and gator bites were great. But their broccoli and kale were so good.
