Reviews - Simcha
Reviews summary
Simcha in Sharon is a small, Israeli-inspired restaurant serving generous portions of bold, eclectic flavors. Standouts include wedge salad, roasted cauliflower, pumpkin baba ganoush and dip-ready hummus; fried chicken and group platters are crowd-pleasers. Friendly, attentive service, owner-hosted cooking classes and signed cookbooks add charm, while a cozy, intimate atmosphere suits groups and casual date nights. Quality can be inconsistent—some dishes feel uninspired or overly smoky—making Simcha a rewarding but occasionally uneven dining destination.

In the fall of 2021, a large group of 18 gathered at this restaurant one afternoon. We were treated to excellent food and service, inspired by Israeli cuisine. We indulged in all the dishes offered on the special group menu, and the total cost was $50 per person, which included the meal, taxes, and tips. I anticipate that the price may be higher in 2022 and beyond. The restaurant owner was approachable and took the t... View all feedback.
What Jonathan S dislikes about Simcha:
Wow, what a letdown. We had heard such great things about Simcha and were eager to try the Israeli cuisine in Sharon (we love Israeli food!). While the service was quick and friendly, the food unfortunately fell flat. The wedge salads were fantastic, but aside from that, most of the dishes lacked inspiration. The signature hummus was bland and overly whipped, and the baba was no better. The roasted cauliflower sounde... View all feedback.

For the holidays, I was gifted a cooking class with Avi, the chef and owner of Simcha. Alongside four other home cooks, we prepared a delightful 30-minute meal that included turkey tenderloin, a salad of blistered tomatoes, basil, and burrata, as well as boiled potatoes seasoned with butter, basil, garlic, and mint. We sipped on wine and beer while enjoying stimulating conversations over our meal, making for a truly memorable afternoon. I picked up some valuable cooking techniques and fresh ideas—who knew mint could elevate potatoes so much?—and shared plenty of laughs. As someone who is a bit introverted, I appreciated Avi's laid-back demeanor, which helped put everyone at ease. I highly recommend taking the class, and I've already suggested the restaurant to others!

While the service was quick and friendly, the food unfortunately fell flat. The wedge salads were fantastic, but aside from that, most of the dishes lacked inspiration. The signature hummus was bland and overly whipped, and the baba was no better. The roasted cauliflower sounded promising, but it couldn't compare to Miznon's (or even my own recipe). The chicken shawarma and Yemenite fried chicken were just okay. Based on previous reviews, it seems we may have caught them on an off night. However, considering we drove 50 minutes in Friday evening traffic to get there, I regret to say we won't be returning anytime soon.
I had the pleasure of dining outdoors with a large group in the autumn of 2021. The food and service were exceptional, featuring Israeli-inspired cuisine. We thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes from the special group menu. The cost was $50 per person, including taxes and tips, but I anticipate prices may increase in 2022 and beyond. The restaurant owner was very friendly and took the time to introduce each dish to us. He also had cookbooks available for sale and gladly signed them for anyone who requested.
Ordered the large group platter last weekend, along with a few sides for good measure. The platter was arranged very nicely, with great presentation. All the food was really delicious and the flavors were vibrant. Loved the eggplant, carrots, and the fried chicken! Hummus was delicious and perfectly dip-able. When I went inside to pick up the order, the staff were extremely friendly, and they even included a complimentary bottle of red wine with the order. It's very refreshing to have a restaurant serving up something different in this neck of the woods!

What a lovely little restaurant! The cauliflower dish was excellent, and the pumpkin baba ganoush was a unique touch on the plate. The hummus was also very tasty. The service was good, particularly during the busy times.
Simcha is one of the most exciting new restaurants in the Boston area. Every dish is even better than the last. My recommendation is to get one of everything (and maybe even two of each dessert . Our entire experience was fantastic, with an attentive and friendly staff, a beautiful and clean dining room, a mesmerizing open kitchen with an awesome pita oven and most importantly delicious food. Our only complaint was that the table wasn't big enough to fit all of the incredible food! We will definitely be back. Thank you for a tasty and fun night out!

A truly unique restaurant. Food and beverages were incredible and even better to know that they work with local farms. Very recommended!
The food was absolutely delicious! We discovered this restaurant while watching Phantom and decided to give it a try. Everything we ordered was incredibly tasty, and the portions were generous! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and offered great recommendations. We will definitely be back!
