Very good tasting food and service. Good small beer and wine selection as well. The seafood chowder is excellent. We also splurged on a king crab leg and it was great. We ordered the halibut sandwich and really enjoyed it as well, but it would have been even better on a less strong tasting bread. The bun overshadowed the taste of the fish a bit. And the rice was just a bit on the tough side tonight.
Salmon was over cooked for all 3 of us. Red snapper (included with captains platter) was better. Dinners come with choice of 4 sides but they are all starches (rice, potato, corn, baked beans). No real vegetables. Very expensive for what you get. Seems they cater to tourists and don’t depend on repeat customers. Service was good.
Excellent local menu choices, with friendly and efficient service. The eclectic decor and general vibe is unique and worth a visit! Slightly pricey, but that's to be expected in the region. Will return for sure!
On a dreary, rainy day (just look at the puddles in the parking lot), we decided to head back to the Windsong Lodge after spending most of the day on a boat tour. With limited dining options nearby, our choices were either the on-site restaurant or a half-mile walk to The Salmon Bake. Ultimately, we were glad we chose the lodge’s restaurant, as it turned out to be a better option. We were seated promptly since we arrived early, likely because others were discouraged by the rain. Our server was very friendly and efficient. They had some great local draft beer on tap. I enjoyed a delicious Sockeye salmon sandwich, and the homemade berry cobbler with ice cream was excellent. The atmosphere is a quirky mix of lodge charm and kitsch, which suits the area perfectly. Overall, the food was definitely worth a visit, so be sure to check it out.
We dined at Salmon Bake last year during our stay in Seward. The food was excellent with generous portions, and the atmosphere was lively, though the space felt a bit cramped and crowded. We waited about an hour to be seated since it was quite busy. The king crab legs were delicious— not the biggest I've encountered, but a good size nonetheless.
