We visited is september snorchen many of the restaurants were closed. we stumbled over this little restaurant. absolutely the best fishing and chips of the trip! that went into town while we were there and we were just served. eat our meal in the cozy darkness to lunch. charming small place with grat fish and chips!
Nice restaurant, been there w wife several days and Oscar has been great, remember food is food for the most part and the food was good but the service by Oscar made the place worth comming back to and will continue as we as staying in the hotel Crown plaza.
My wife and I ate lunch at Chattermark even though there was a wait. I had halibut, which was excellent! For desert we shared a chocolate desert that was excellent also. We highly recommend Chattermark! Service was excellent as well, even though they were short staffed and busy.
Chattermark offers a blend of satisfying dishes and service challenges that can vary greatly between visits. While patrons rave about the quality of seafood, burgers, and unique offerings like reindeer meatloaf and ceviche, wait times for food can be frustratingly long, especially during peak hours. Service is friendly but often hampered by understaffing, leading to inconsistent dining experiences. The restaurant is noted for its decent atmosphere, though some diners feel it lacks charm. Despite its shortcomings, many recommend Chattermark for its tasty food, especially if you are willing to navigate the occasional delay.

Was expensive even for Seward. Lunch for two with tip (my wife couldn 't figure out how to reduce it from 15% to reflect the service) was $62. What we got was three small halibut pieces with fries and a hamburger with fries. No drinks. We waited about five minutes by the please wait to be seated sign, then just sat down (two other tables occupied). Ordered and watched our food be put up on the counter for more than 5 minues until fries were room temperature. Burger was a pre-made crummy meat burger with brioche bun and a small handful of fries. Waiter didn 't refill water or check back to see how cold the meal was. Will never go near this place again, and recommend you do the same!
The restaurant i wanted to try was closed that day, so we ended up here. The menu is the exact menu as another restaurant in Seward; they must be owned by the same owner. I did not like the atmosphere here at all. The food and service were just ok. I ended up getting the Apple Maple Salad, with Salmon. Not enough greens in the salad. My husband got a burger and fries; it was fine. Limited restaurants in Seward, but i would try a different place next time.
The waitress was nice and friendly. The food was superb. We had halibut and salmon. So good. Highly recommend.
Staff was friendly but needed more of them. Slow service and overpriced food. Basic cuisine. Reindeer sausage soup listed mushrooms and spinach but was not in it.

The halibut fish and chips were amazing. Our family liked that the breading wasn’t heavy at all just right, and the fish was so fresh tasting. The accompanying pesto sauce balances the halibut perfectly. We also shared an apple maple salad. I was impressed with how nice the greens were.Yes, the fish and chips are on the spendy side, but when in AK, that’s how it is. And a F C meal could certainly be shared among two people. Our server (a young Jamaican guy) was super attentive and helpful with our requests.
Food and our server Princess were little less than great. We could have lived with the food but Princess was very short with us. Her first greeting was what do you want to drink with a very annoyed tone.I was observing the other staff which seemed to be very personable and kind to the other customers and to use as well. Won 't be back.
Had a late lunch here. Pretty busy when we were there. But the food was good and the restaurant, relaxing. Friendly staff!Food: 5/5
NOT a gluten-free option as advertised. Website menu was BS. Got very abbreviated bar menu on arrival. Exceptionally rude waiter insisted TWICE that we MUST tip him IN CASH ONLY. He didn’t ask. He TOLD us. Avoid this place like the plague.
Some of the best food from our whole trip. I am sure there are halibut and chips at pretty much every restaurant in Seward, but the perfect breading and the delicious dipping sauce set this one apart. Not only that, but the service was great, the staff were so welcoming and just lovely.

Summary: great seafood chowder, unique reindeer stew, average burgers, slow service, otherwise underwhelming place. Visit: 7/6/22 2:30 pm Pros: Seafood chowder was some of the best in Seward. Generous servings of celery, potatoes, and seafoodincluding salmon. On the watery side like milk, which I personally like more than the thick and gloopy consistency of mostchowders in this area. Great apple and walnut salad. Great chocolate brownie dessert. Cons: Scallop mac and cheese wasserved lukewarm and not very tasty nor creamy, though they were generous with chunks of scallop. Burger was average (which isinteresting for a place that seems to focus on burgers). Service was slow for an establishment about 2/3 full. Good or Bad: Reindeer stew is unique (pictured). Quite gamey with a sweet apple like flavor. Not for everyone. Overall: Food 3.5/5 somegood dishes like seafood chowder, but others like burgers are underwhelming. Service 3/5 an average place on the slow side. Value 3.5/5 one of the more reasonably priced places in Seward, but it still is Seward prices.
You MUST get the cinnamon sweet potato fries, but ask for the honey on the side as a dip luscious! We also enjoyed the seafood chowder and the reindeer stew was highly recommended and very good! Hard working people here and they do a dang goodjob. Nice seventies/eighties music from the kitchen : Great place! Go here!
Came here for dinner after spending the day in Seward and Kenai Fjords. It was fairly empty, so walked in and was immediately seated. Server was very friendly, helpful, and polite. Started off with some ceviche while looked over the menu. Ceviche cameout right away and was a good portion of fresh fish. Ordered a little bit of everything for the meals from the salads, chowder, reindeer stew, and fish sandwich. All the food came out together in about 10 minutes and was freshly made. The presentationand plating were decent, but the food was good. Server constantly checked in to make sure everything was good and was prompt onfilling glasses and cleaning empty dishes. Overall, good service and good food. Only suggestion I would have would be toupdate/remove the references to chattermark.biz as your business website as it's just a parked domain as of today. That addressis listed on your Facebook and Google search results.
Ordered the Peel Eat Shrimp. They arrived peeled. Super tough and served warm. Only 9 shrimp and an extra tail without a shrimp. Should have called it a Shrimp Cocktail and not reheated the already cooked shrimp. Service was great and restaurant wasclean.

I had a wonderful experience at CHATTERMARK. Both Kevinique and Anthony were incredibly gracious, friendly, and professional. From the moment we stepped in, we felt welcomed and at ease. A big shoutout to the Chef for the amazing food! We ordered the Reindeer soup with grilled cheese and the Reindeer Meatloaf with Mac-and-cheese. Everything was full of flavor and delicious. It was a delightful reward after a long day of hiking in the chilly rain.
I chose this restaurant after seeing some delicious food photos online. However, when we arrived, I was surprised to find that the menu was just one page long and offered only a few seafood options. When the waiter came by, I asked if that was all they had, and he replied, “Oh, you came because of the pictures online, right? We don’t have any of that anymore.” He then informed me that the only seafood items available were the fish and chips, and I could add halibut to my mac and cheese. The taste of everything was mediocre and quite pricey. Overall, I would recommend avoiding this place.
We visited the restaurant early, before the tourist season starts. It seems they have just reopened, so it was peaceful and very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed the fish curry soup; it was flavorful and aromatic, with nice chunks of carrot and fish—perfect for a late afternoon snack. My husband ordered the halibut and fries, which were well-cooked and tasty, although the portion size was on the smaller side. Overall, everything was fresh and delicious. We will definitely come back on our next trip to Seward!
The food was exceptional! We ordered the salmon burger, fried halibut, and fried salmon. The salmon burger was light and had a wonderful sweetness from the blueberry aioli that complemented it perfectly. The fish and chips were also impressive; they were crispy, and the fish was tender and flaky. However, the real standout was the cilantro garlic aioli that accompanied the fish and chips—it's hands down the best dipping sauce we've ever tried. I usually dislike cilantro, but this was absolutely delicious. Finally, the service was top-notch, with friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant!
