We are on a river boat holiday, and we came over this restaurant because it was only place in the village and what a sound it was. excellent in every department- eating was exceptional and plentiful that the staff so inviting and the ambiente. was brilliant. thanks for a wonderful and unexpected Saturday afternoon. we are going back to our boot filled.
Excellent meal, excellent and very friendly staff and owners, and because it rained the owner drove us back to the marina on the road. very thoughtful. would recommend this place.
This restaurant offers a quite pricy (29 euros menu 35 sundays) a la carte menu. If you don't want to pay this you can get the take it or leave it plat du jour. When we were there is was Langue du Boeuf with rice....Not very appetising and the only choice. Much better choice further up the road.
Here is really delicious lunch. highly recommended and very popular with locals. a simple 15 minutes to walk from port de savoyeux when they are on a boat.
Excellent cooking from the owner/chef using largely local products has led to this becoming a much sought after local restaurant. Make sure you book (03 84 67 10 07) as it can get very busy, especially in Spring when frogs (its speciality) are in season....Not only is it within easy walking distance from the marina for those boating on the Saone but it also attracts coach parties from across the region two such, animated by an accordion player, were crowding the main dining room when we arrived!! Despite the restaurant being busy, we were warmly welcomed and were shown into a private dining room set aside for family groups and locals. Table service was prompt and efficient, aperitifs and amuses bouches were served whilst we read the menus (29 and 39 euros) and, once ordered, there was no delay in dishes arriving despite the busy main dining room outside. Several of us started with a dish of a variety of mushrooms in a cream sauce served on a crouton others had a foie gras. Perfectly cooked and carefully presented. Our selected main courses included guinea fowl, and and the tenderest bavettes of beef. Both cooked to perfection and served with a correctly seasoned sauces and al dente vegetables. The cheeses board was extensive and had many local cheeses which the waitress was only too willing to explain. Similarly, the wine we chose was a local Champlitte again the waitress gave us the address of their supplier and there's now a case in my cellar. My friends' desserts included iles flottantes and ice creams which they described as delightful. If on the menu, I use creme brulee as a final discriminator; this creme brulee, home made of course, was as spot on as you can get. Chez Berthe is a must visit location. Don't miss it
