The service was poor, a very unpleasant waiter. We had the typical choco frito and there is much better around
On our first night in Setubal we weren't in the mood for a long search for something to eat, and this unprepossessing spot right on the main road out of town along the coast wasn't going out of its way to attract us. But it looked big, and well-used by groups of locals, so despite the precarious entrance and the promise of a karaoke stage in the corner we plonked ourselves down at one of the long-rowed tables. It's fair to say that the staff have not wasted any time on a silver service course, but they're quick enough and delighted when you tuck in to what comes fresh off the grill. We arrived on a Monday so some fish was off the menu, but what we ordered hadn't travelled far from the dock and was cooked simply and expertly, and came accompanied by basic sides. There's a fair bit of traffic noise from the main road but you soon forget it, particularly with World Cup football played on a big screen in the corner. The fish is fab, the bill is small, and if you're worried about parking pop the motor down on the front, where there's plenty of free space, and make the short walk up. Take care when you cross the road, though.
After so many years living around the city finally decided to pop in … Not impressed.. the price was cheap but not top notch
This is a real find in Setabul portugal. Simple place, just outside town but can easily walk from center. Parking is available in front and nearby free. Super fantastic family restaurant. I highly reccomend it for amazing fish. I came 3 times in 1 week. The swordfish was the best I have ever tasted and their choco frita which is famous in this area was amazing. Look at the water while you eat.
We stumbled across this restaurant by accident. Very authentic, really good fresh fish. That’s where it’s stops. I’m all for traditional, authentic, old Portuguese charm and atmosphere but the prices are not that. We shared a large robalo. Yes it was lovely and cooked well but it was €30 for 1 fish. Bread, olives were ok and no butter, sardine pate, cheese were not offered. We asked for salad with the fish which quite frankly my 4 year old Neice could have produced better and it was a mean portion. Salad was extra. Half litre of vino verde (draft) €6.50. Ridiculously expensive. I think the worst thing about this restaurant is they produce good well cooked fish, charge a lot for what you get but the restaurant needs a lot of TLC and the toilets are disgusting. As I said, I love old traditional restaurants with great charm and atmosphere but when they are clearly turning over huge amounts of money they should be investing some of that money back into the services offered. There wasn’t a lot of staff and the place is on the side of the road, no car park, road busy and I can’t believe their overheads are big. Real shame, the fish was great but that’s it and a bill of €40 for a lunch of one good fish is just too much. Invest some of your money back into the building and it’s services and I would return.
