I mentioned that I was going to Lisbon, and had asked if there was somewhere outside of Lisbon that was worth a visit. It was suggested that if I loved fresh food, then Setubal would be the place to go. A number of Portuguese people I spoke to in Lisbon suggested The Ancora Azul. We boarded the Fertagus train at Entrecampos Station and were at Setubal within an hour. This restawas a rodizio de peixe eat all you can eat. We had sardines, cod, mackerel, bream, salmon, cuttle fish (choco frito), and a few more ones that I didn 't recognise. The waiters continually come round with platters of freshly barbecued fish, and it is served with bread, salad, and boiled potatoes. A soft drink is included in the price. This was by far the freshest and finest fish I have ever been served outside of the East Nook of Fife. Well worth the 70km round trip.
Very simple ambiance, but excellent fish food. Cheap you pay a fixed sum and eat fish dishes as much as you can! They serve different fish dorado, sardines, pescada etc. With white sangria it just delicious! Service is also fast and friendly.
Boa variedade de peixe. Batatas e salada muito boas. O peixe estava um pouco salgado demais. Não é muito barato.
Excelente rodízio variado e com qualidade. Peixe fresquinho apanhado pelos pescadores locais. Para quem aprecia peixe assado recomendo vivamente.
This is a fish rodizio so get ready to eat fish and more fish. What is good about the restaurant is that you will sample a lot of fish you may see in a market but never in a restaurant. The fish are grilled to perfection and you also get as much salad and potatoes as you want. Be advised that this is a very popular place especially for locals so if you are not there at the open you may wait a long time to get in.
