Great food and very nice place to sit outside and breathe a bit of local spirit and fresh air up in the mountain. Very affordable prices.

We went to this place rather than the restaurant next door which appeared to be getting all the trade, as it's nice to spread it around a bit. There isn't a menu, the owner will just rattle of some lunch dishes and you can ask for whatever you fancy he'll tell if you he can make it. Had a really tasty, simple lunch here, and it was pretty reasonably priced. Bruschetta, Caprese salad, spaghetti carbonara, and penne arrabbiata. Really fresh ingredients and pasta sauces made for one of the best meals of our holiday wholly unexpected. If your passing through Fontana then stop here for lunch.

Summer in southern Italy is quite hot, even in the beautiful island of Ischia, in the golf of Naples. Fontana is the highest town of the island, about 500 mt high, and thus the best place for cool relief and pure air in summer. Here are a few bars and pizza places, I find the Bar Ristorante Da Peppino absolutely the best. I come here since many years and find their pizza and their panino or panuozzo always very very good. The kindness and charm of the owners make the place even more pleasant. There is free Wi-Fi available. A real pleasure in a hot summer day on your way to or from the tip of the island, Monte Epomeo, or night. Highly recommended

We were unable to make it to Sant'Angelo, so we stopped here for a weekday lunch. This a small, basic, mom pop restaurant on the main road through the small village of Serrara Fontana. It's the kind of place that you could easily pass by and never see. There are some tables inside and also some tables across the street in the tree-shaded park which is where we sat. Everything about our lunch was very good. We ordered penne arrabiatta and spaghetti with olio, garlic, and pepperincino along with bread and house wine. The pasta was cooked al dente and was delicious. We enjoyed our meal and the service from the owner was friendly and efficient. This is more of a local place and not a tourist stop so the prices were very reasonable. We can recommend it if you happen to be passing by, or if you want a change from the more touristy lunch stops on the island.
