I absolutely loved this place. BEST honey baked cheesecake in the WORLD. The owners are a lovely couple. Friendly staff. Don't drive past. This is n must-stop place
Go to Scrumpy Jacks and get 'the best cheese cake in the valley '! The interior of the restaurant is nice and invites to a relaxed afternoon coffee. Service and staff are warm and friendly. The owners are lovely people. I ordered a cheese cake and a red cappuccino- both were delicious. A small gift shop with local products is part of the restaurant. The homemade honey is a must and highly recommended. Looking forward to come again.
Great stop with a reminder sign that you missed the turnoff Quiche is excellent, beers are ice cold
Absolutely loved our time here at Scrumpy Jack, whilst visiting the Champagne valley area. The hosts are friendly and always up for a good chat, the staff are on point and always at your beg and call. We enjoyed their Steak, Egg and Chips – which was really done well and tasted awesome. They have a varied collection of curious from around the Drakensberg area and I loved how the small businesses support one another in this little neck of the woods. The old cow shed, has been converted to the modern looking farm style restaurant, and was designed by a notable architect from the area who has since passed on. Did not manage to see the Glass Hive, due to some moth issues that affected the enclosure – was definitely something I wanted to see. The Glass Hive opens around 10:00 in the morning, so if you are planning to pass by – don’t be too early. Now, to the most important part….the Honey Baked Cheesecake….Wow, wow, wow! This was tasty and delightful with a light hint of sweetness, baked just right with a luscious crumb….was so good, had to stop to buy a piece to take back home to Johannesburg with us…and yes, it survived the trip home. This is what they are famous for and what you must stop by to get…a slice will cost you about R45.00 (as at 7 August 2023)
