What a great little place. Very clean and very friendly. Their meats come from a local butcher (Troutman's) and the portions are generous. If you go away hungry you're probably a Susquehanna linebacker. I can't say enough for things about this place. View all feedback.
What Kelly Merrell doesn't like about Homer's Kitchen:
We love supporting small business. But when we just left your restaurant after not being waited on for over 15 minutes. A couple w a kid came in after we sat there 10 minutes they got menus and drinks and a clean table. Then another couple came in got table cleaned and menus and drinks. I told both the girl w long hair and the other dressed all in black that we were there 1st and no one is waiting on us. Eventually t... View all feedback.
Just moved to the area and ate here for the first time, as we like to support local businesses. We have read so many great reviews. Either people that have reviewed this restaurant only eat here, don't know what good food is or the restaurant was having a bad day. When we went in to sit at a table we were greeted with Walmart brand ketchup and other generic brand condiments at our table. If they use generic products at the table they certainly do in the kitchen. We ordered drinks they came out in a timely manner, coffee tasted as if it were on the burner for hours. My wife then ordered a mess, the waitress said all we have done is a small mess. Wondered when this was cooked, obviously not to order. I then ordered medium eggs, sausage, and toast. The food came out in a timely manner probably due to not cooked as they get the order. My wives mess was enough for 1 toddler, 8 bites if your lucky and her toast was burnt with gobs of margarine. My eggs had hard brown edges and the bottom of eggs were brown and hard as well, my sausage was the size of Italian sausage and appeared to be cooked sometime other than to order and was then microwaved when the cook received my order, my toast wasn't as dark as my wives toast but had the same grossly amount of margarine. Once we finished eating as much as we could tolerate the waitress asked how everything was. By her asking if everything was OK with the amount of food left on the plates compared to the amount we were given, tells me that serving subpar food is acceptable. Then she asked if we were paying card or cash, I said cash mainly because the sign on the front door says we prefer cash. She told me the amount without presenting me with a check. The total bill was 24.77, I gave her 25 and asked for a copy of the check. The generic coffee that sat on the burner for hours was 3.00 a cup, the small orange juice was 3,85. So all the reviews that say the prices are inexpensive, the food is great and there are large portions clearly need to go experience other restaurants for breakfast. I don't mind paying the if the food is worth it. Great place to eat if you enjoy low quality generic food and paying 10× what it's worth. Just trying to warn you before you become as disappointed as we were.
Love this place for its diner breakfasts. Nice waitresses. They use Troutman's smoked sausage in their messes delicious. Their cold coffee drinks are decadent and good looking.
