On our way back to... read more We are in Germany visiting our son and always on the lookout for great food. Saw this restaurant’s ad on the side of a van at a gas station. On our way back to our apartment in Sittard we passed it in Wher and made...a U-turn to try it out. Initially impressed at its size and how beautiful it was when we entered. Not that busy we were seated immediately and given a menu not in English but that’s why we have apps right? No big deal. The gentleman that seated us knew little English but very soon came a gentleman that was willing to try. He explained he cane from Croatia and understood English well but had a hard time speaking. We demolished all barriers quickly. He took our recommendation for the app and was so happy. We both ordered beef but if different types. Before their arrival the gentleman brought over a tiny vial of the Croatian wine. With a shot it was down. Very very smooth and very tasty. The salad bar cane with the order. Small but well done. She ordered the Croatian wine and I had a local beer. The gentleman came by a few more times and we conversed about different things. Then came the main course. Wow! Steaks cooked to perfection and huge. See below pictures. After or near after our friend came back with two larger small bottles of “wine.” Our learned enough Croatian to ask his name. His name is Robert. We laughed all together with others in the restaurant as Robert tried to tell us what the wine was made of... pear and plum. Tasty I tell you. With hesitation Robert gave us two large ice cream desserts on the house. There are times when there is good food. Times when there is good atmosphere. Time when service is good. Rarely do all three hit their mark. This was the night. The U-turn was fate. To put the cherry on top we divulged our dreams to travel to Croatia. Robert gave us a large book and marked the best places for us to visit. Wow. Yes this was a very long review but rarely do we have time, place, event that exceeds stars. This was the place, the night, the people to make it so. Stars.

Maybe it is on other days as well. The service was very friendly. I had soup as starter: a...big portion of three different meats for main course with rice as well as fries. You could also help yourself at the salad bar, al included in the price. My wife had turkey with peach in a delicious sauce. For dessert there was ice cream with fruit sauce and whipped cream. The bill came to € (including a carafe of red wine) for the two of us. The interior is somewhat typical of the genre, a bit sparse, But definitely a comeback place!

I had suppe as an appetizer: a large part of three different meats for the main course with rice and pommes. they can also help them to the salatable, al included in the price. my wife had truthahn with pfirsich in a delicious sauce. for dessert there was ice with fruit sauce and whipped cream. the bill was €41 (including a carafe red wine) for both of us. the interieur is something typical of the genre, a bit spersome, but definitiw a comeback place!
