While many commend the friendly and accommodating staff, especially during busy lunch services, reports of a rude owner and inconsistent service have surfaced. Diners appreciate the hearty portions and well-cooked meals, particularly the carvery and steak pie, but some have found the food quality lacking. Despite occasional service missteps and confusion over promotions, many guests express a willingness to return, drawn by the inviting atmosphere and the promise of a homely dining experience. Overall, Kellington Manor shows potential, though improvements in service could enhance its reputation.
What a find. Lovely evening meal, great choice, quality and value. Staff from the minute we arrived were fab and very welcoming and friendly. This was a stop over with our motorhome, and had a great nights sleep.
1 Staff members attitude and then no response when I raised it. We hoped this would be our new local Sunday lunch spot. Sadly, Screaming at a 2 year old is not appropriate. Then when another little girl said “excuse me, she’s just a baby” Staff member responded with “I don’t care” She was stood on a very low wall.
We decided to visit Kellington Manor for a late lunch based on recommendations from our friends, and we were not disappointed. The welcome was very friendly, and they were also very dog-friendly. The decor of the manor was tasteful, bright, and fresh. The staff were all very welcoming, and we ordered drinks and selected our meals from their 2 for 1 menu. The food was fantastic - some of us had the carvery, which was described as tasting like a home-cooked Sunday roast. I opted for the steak and ale pie, which had a delicious flaky pastry and was packed with rich, tasty meat. Overall, our experience was excellent - the staff were friendly, the food was delicious and well-prepared. I would highly recommend Kellington Manor and will definitely be returning.
We all felt very welcome at the restaurant, including our little Violet. The staff were attentive, friendly, and down to earth. Violet was treated like royalty with water and dog biscuits provided. The restaurant is very dog-friendly, and the owners' dogs are lovely as well. The food and drinks were delicious and reasonably priced. We especially enjoyed the homemade chips. We will definitely be returning. Thank you!
Have previously called here for a drink, we decided to come for Sunday lunch and were extremely disappointed. It was the worst carvery we have ever had. Served in some kind of back room, we were not allowed to put our own vegetables on, as is usual with a carvery. My partner was not happy with the fact that the chef picked up the roast potatoes in his (gloved) hands and put them on his plate. The choice of veg was very limited and the peas were mushy, which i have never known on a carvery. We couldnt even put our own gravy on. They obviously want to limit the amount one gets as our portions were meagre. The waitress was absolutely lovely and professional. The meal was not hot and the roast potatoes seemed old and were virtually inedible dry , hard and like leather. We had to request some new ones but suspected they were merely been heated up ones, not much better than the originals. This was the first time we had gone out for Sunday lunch for ages and travelled a long way to it but we certainly will never dine here again. As i said, the worst carvery i have ever had, by far.
