The Swan - Sefton

Went for lunch today, very busy so we had to queue for a while but the waitresses were very efficient and made sure everyone was seated as tables became available. We ordered our usual, three Cod specials. Food, as usual was lovely, but two of the fish we received were very small to the extent of us calling a waitress over to ask if we 'd be given their small fish in error. We were told that no, these are our large cod, and it 's done on weight, sometimes they can look small because of the large plate ?? One of our fish was just about of an acceptable size but it dwarfed the other two which were goujon size. We sat there wondering how these could be considered 'large ' when our original waitress came over and asked how our meal was so we again pointed out the size of the fish. She replied virtually word for word as the other waitress, makes me wonder if they have been told what to say when regular customers ask the same question ? It 's a shame if this is something they are now doing as the food, including the bit of fish we had was delicious, and the staff were their usual friendly selves. The vast majority of customers in there at the time were elderly with perhaps smaller appetites but anyone else would have certainly felt disappointed with the portion served. We will be trying another chippy in the resort next time

This is surely the best fish and ships in Southport. The fish is beautiful and white cooked in a light batter coating. Highly recommented.

Excellent service good quality ingredients, comfortable seating . Would definitely visit again next time we are in Southport . Big shout out to all the staff especially B who really looked after us . Frank
