The restaurant has a lovely ambiance and a welcoming staff. The food and cocktails are delicious. I really enjoy the tapas, which allow me to have all my favorites in one meal. I highly recommend trying the cassoulet. The live singer added to the enjoyable ambiance. Overall, I had a fantastic experience. View all feedback.
What smudgenozzy doesn't like about Maloney's And Snug:
OK if you are not fussy where you drink. I believe the bar prices are OK. We don't know for sure, as the bar is inside the Scarisbrick hotel, and we did not eat or drink there. We were residents from upstairs View all feedback.
Although I live in St Helens, I am a regular visitor to Southport and have been so for many years. Accordingly I have a good knowledge of the many eateries in the town. I first tried one of the 2 for £10 meals at Maloneys kitchen for the first time about 18 months ago. I must have returned for the same meal deal 8 or 9 times since. Whilst the food has always been good rather than outstanding, there is no doubt that it has been amazing for the price, and also includes a hot drink! However, during my most recent visit with my wife 2 weeks ago, I have to say that the meals were outstanding. The roast pork lunch was infinitely better than one that I had paid more than twice the price for at a local upmarket pub, and the all day breakfast was simply the best breakfast I have ever had. The eating area will divide opinion and can best be described as quirky. I personally love it as it has a great retro feel about it, although the rest of the family are not too keen. Staff have always been polite, efficient and friendly which is always a bonus.
2 sunday lunches for £10. Roast beef, yorkshire puddings and plenty of vegetables, All served on a nice warm plate. All Very nice and lovely service from the barman and waitress. Best we have had for a long time. Great food for a bargain price
Was sat eating our meal today 20/05/19 poor service from a rude waitress at 1410 when an older couple came and sat down and the waitress stated to the couple who had been sat for a while waiting to be served and stated very abruptly and in my opinion extremely rude that they are closed and not serving so the couple had to leave the Restaurant Red Faced in tis day and age a little courtesy and respect should be observed by staff having run a company for many years it takes seconds to ruin a reputation
I 'd passed through this place a few times en route to the Spindles Health Club downstairs, when it was empty, and quite eery. The black floor and peculiar decor gives it a dark surreal feel and I always whipped through sharpish! I also saw it when it was banging on weekend nights. Loud...On a Sunday lunchtime however, when the neon was aglow and the fairy lights were sparkling it felt far less foreboding, so my friend and I popped in for a light bite before heading home after a weekend break. Other diners were all middle-aged or elderly, and quiet. My cream scone and coffee were very pleasant. The scone was large, fresh and gently warmed through. Served with a pot of jam and a mini mountain of whipped cream it was a treat! The coffee was ok, though a touch weak. I 'd requested a small pot of hot water in case it was strong, but this certainly wasn 't required. My friend fared less well. Her tuna sandwich lacked any dressing, and she described the accompanying side salad as 'stale and disgusting '.Overall, I 'd say this spot is okay for a budget bite, but choose your time to visit with care. The ambience and clientele changes markedly according to the hour and the day.
Called in for a drink and wished we hadn't, it's a bar for the younger set who don't seem to be bothered what they are doing to their ear drums.
