Chiquito Southport - Sefton

The service at this restaurant was below par. The food was not exceptional. Our order was mixed up and the wait time for our meal was unacceptably long. Despite it not being a busy night, the staff seemed overwhelmed by a medium-sized party at another table. To make matters worse, we were charged for a dish that we never received. The food was overpriced and average at best. The only saving grace was that the bill was promptly corrected.

Poor management. Overall, dining experience was subpar. The service was excellent, but the quality of the food was disappointing. Not worth the money, as the portions are small for the price and the taste is unsatisfactory. The only redeeming qualities of this Chiquitos in Southport are the service and staff. The servers were all attractive and courteous, but the manager is unpleasant. From what I observed, he was disrespectful to his staff.

We have dined at this restaurant many times over the years. While the cuisine may not be completely authentic Mexican, it is delicious! Our usual starter is the fiesta nachos, a large plate of oversized chips topped with cheese, salsa, sour cream, and guacamole (though we always ask for the guacamole to be left off). My only issue with the nachos is that they now seem to be using a processed, pre-melted cheese rather than freshly grated cheese. My partner usually orders the tasty chicken dish, while I opt for either the spicy chicken enchiladas or the vegetable enchiladas, both of which come with Mexican rice. Overall, we always enjoy dining here.
