We had the duck, scallops, sourdough bread, chocolate cake dessert, and two cocktails and everything was awesome. Portions weren’t huge but worth the price on quality alone. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about The George:
very pleasant atmosphere, modern with an old warm charm. large design elements, but be careful to get the dissolving for two at the ends of the circles. heidi was our server and was attentive and helpful. we have taste different dishes and all were delicious and well presented, except the tuna tataki, which was left to drown in vinegar. disappoint as the thunfish itself looked very good, but you could not taste it. t... Stayed at the Fairmont under the Staycation package which came with a comp upgrade to a king suite, free self parking, and $50 credit to the salon/spa. Nowhere on the site or in the emails prior to your arrival does it tell you where to go to self park. Tracy who checked me in deserves 5 stars, she was so kind, hospitable, and helpful. To start, the renovations look amazing. Very 1920s and the aesthetic is visually appealing and very Gatsby. Checked into our king suite and looks wise, it was very nice. But very clear that its still a dated hotel. The chain lock on our door was so rusty, I felt like I needed a tetanus shot after touching it. The marble bathroom is gorgeous. But the bed, oh man, that mattress, it felt and sounded like an air mattress. It was not at all soft. Woke up with aches. The couch in the living area smelled like putrid cheese so we didn't spend a lot of time sitting there. Most newer hotels have streaming (Netflix) options on the TV, but Fairmont doesn't, not even movie channels like Showtime or HBO. So we were left with only basic cable with commercials. We also drank at the Olympic bar, with suuuper pricey drinks. Service this night was sloooooooowwwww. We also went to the Penelope Beauty Bar--Sophia offered just me a water but did not once ask my sister if she wanted something to drink, before and after. I was also told during my massage to keep my mask on, but my sister was allowed to keep hers off. Very inconsistent. Fairmont is gorgeous and looks luxurious, but the service could use work. Only saving grace was Tracy.
Very nice hotel. Highlights: clean, quiet, comfortable bed, nice atmosphere, great location in downtown Seattle. We do have one quibble: internet service was not free. The Fairmont bills itself itself as a luxury hotel and it is, it’s very nice and we’ll likely return some time. Our room cost a little over $350. We dropped another $150 in the bar for food and drinks. And in spite of spending over $500 at the Fairmont apparently that doesn’t include internet access. What’s the story with that?
Disappointed is an understatement. We selected The Fairmont Olympic as we were looking for a luxury weekend to celebrate two birthdays for a weekend in Seattle. Luxury is what we DID NOT receive. To start, we had called and confirmed valet was available and when we arrived we were told it was not available and we had to go around and over one block to park in another building. The doorman took our bags and held them for us while we went to park. The parking garage is not attached to the hotel and there was issue with getting in as the parking gate machine was not working. The arm was up and we eventually just went up and parked. We then walked back. What confused us was that we witnessed valet parking the rest of the stay.... he must not have felt up to it when we arrived. Check in was smooth but the hotel is under renovations so there was no lobby and no beautiful history to enjoy. Rooms were clean and spacious and our room had no view except some close large buildings which was fine as we were in the city. Beds were ok and pillows were amazing. The people were nice and the building is lovely. We made a reservation for the pool as instructed but are not sure why we needed to as there was no check in or attendant at the pool area and it was full of families and kids. Definitely not what we expected so we left. The kicker for the weekend was the hotel spa, Penelope’s Beauty Bar. We ALL (6 people) reserved spa packages that were not inexpensive and all had negative experiences. I will only speak from my experience. Covid has somewhat affected the experience which I expected. The waiting room is nothing short of disappointing with a few chairs spaced apart in an open central area surrounded by treatment rooms. There was no attendant to check in on the waiting area or to offer water or tea (which is not available for self serve). I was actually never offered water at all following any of my treatments! I had reserved a Swedish massage and had a massage therapist who ended up bruising me with what I can only imagine was a good deep tissue massage. I had to continue to ask for lighter pressure. Definitely not the relaxing experience I expected. Instead I was almost jumping off the table. I know some like that but NOT ME! I then had an infrared light sauna which was a strange luke warm 20 min. sauna pod that you lay in. Kind of confused by that one so can’t complain. Last, I was very excited about my facial! She was very pleasant and I left with my face feeling good but I’m used to completing a skin assessment beforehand and understanding what the plan was. That didn’t happen. It was like she looked at my skin and “whipped something up”. It was different to say the least. After she was done she walked me out to have a seat. No water, no explanation, and left to pull products that she “suggested” I purchase. I finally awkwardly wandered out and down the hall to the cashier. After charging to the room I was told I would have a receipt sent under my door that evening. Nothing. All in all it was not a positive experience and we paid WAY too much for what we actually received. I will be back when the lobby is open to see it and grab a cocktail but will be staying elsewhere. Just my 2 (or much more) cents.
We spent one night at Fairmont Olympic hotel in Seattle for the weekend getaway with my daughters. We chose this hotel due to its history and we had a good experience before. The people at the front desk and the doorman were very professional and friendly. The room looked nice at first but after staying an hour or so we realized that our black pants and socks had white cat hair all over. I looked at the floor carefully and saw lots of cat hair. Obviously the housekeeping team didn’t vacuum the room. We called the front desk and requested a room change and they moved our room to a different floor. We made a reservation for using the pool and went there at the reserved time. We found that there were a lot of guests at the pool and jacuzzi and it was over the Covid capacity that was displayed on the wall. We felt uncomfortable and left the pool. It seems like guests were not following the time because there was no staff to check. We wanted to give the hotel 5 stars but not this time unfortunately.
Sunday morning brunch, atmosphere was high end, food was good and the waitress was very attentive to everything we needed.
