We had a party of six and the service was fantastic. You didn't feel rushed as a couple of our guests got caught up in traffic and were late but the waiter made our wait pleasant and understood our situation. I would definitely recommend for a special occasion. View all feedback.
What Peter Steinberg doesn't like about Prelude at McCaw Hall:
The Prelude restaurant is a pleasant and certainly convenient place to eat when attending a production at McCaw Hall. Reservations are always required, as they tend to be unable to accommodate walk-ins. I 've eaten that Prelude several times before and been pleased with my meal. However, this time, I was not. My friend ordered Pan Seared Colossal Scallops. The TWO scallops served on a bed of couscous were hardly colo... View all feedback.
Valiant effort to create a fine dining experience not dependent on lots of wait staff. Just hard to avoid the steam table effect of food tending to get dried out. Lots of seafood in the cioppino. Braised ribs were tasty. Plentiful shrimp appetizers. A work in progress.
They had only a buffet and it was terrible. It tasted like it had been out for days! The worst restaurant meal I have ever had!!!
This was the our first experience with the new buffet service at Prelude and they appear to be on a learning curve. It was relatively seamless but staff lacked a little confidence. It was generally very smooth. We had two main issues: 1) the food was tasty but not very hot, and 2) one of us was a little too enthusiastic about the “small bites” dessert offerings and had s couple of selections that contained nuts that set off an allergic reaction. Next time we will remember to notify staff about allergens since the labels were in sufficiently informative.
I loved the idea of a buffet. However, I felt it was very simple with a sampling of food that didn’t work together very well. It seemed pricey for the complement of food.
Prelude used to be a nice place to get a comfortable and decent meal before the ballet. even though it was somewhat overpriced, given the venue and convenientness, it was rewarding. it is now a buffet something that does not make clear on the Prelude website or on opentable. a buffet. while covid 19, influenza and rsw are on the rise. for $45 plus a mandatory 20% service fee per person. service was mediocre, the server dipped on our table and only. look at us. hasn't told us how the buffet worked until we asked, said we could take our used teller back to the buffet if we want (yes,) and we had to get him down if we needed a little later. then it took 20 minutes to get the leak. no more. honestly, prelude is in the last years, even before the covid 19, but it has sunk (all food and drink service in mccaw hall has to be honest.) we find a new place for the pre-allet dinner and drinks.
