La Isla - Seattle
La Isla
Description
La Isla is a must-try for anyone wanting real Puerto Rican cuisine. The flavorful rice and beans, succulent pork, and fresh bacalao and alcapurrias will transport you to the Spanish Caribbean. The vibrant atmosphere, great music, and excellent Don Q rum create an authentic experience. The mofongo with pernil comes highly recommended, and the Pollo Guisado is a fan favorite. Don't miss out on the pastries made in-house for a perfect end to your meal. The uniquely spiced rice and beans were a standout, and the Tripleta sandwich was hearty and delicious. Overall, La Isla offers satisfying fare, good drink selection, and a casual atmosphere perfect for a first date. Highly recommended for a taste of Puerto Rico in the heart of Ballard.

I still remember the sights, smells and tastes of this restaurant when our family brought us here.
Got the Mofongo with shrimp and it was fantasticReally interesting that it comes in a wood elevated bowl The bowl helps it to stay warm.
Caiparhinas, altho, Brazilian, saved this mealFirst, the tepid reception and service received was something to be desiredDownhill from there.
One of my favorite neighborhood spots! I always get the Pollo Guisado been getting that ever since they had a booth at the Fremont Market. Great vibe, good music, delicious food. (Tip: Ask for extra sofrito, it's good on EVERYTHING! A taste of Puerto Rico in the heart of Ballard definitely check it out!
It 's hard to distill the experience of the flavors I experienced, into words. If I was forced to pick just one I 'd simply say: DELICIOUS. If you 've never been, this place would be great for a first date. Casual atmosphere, very, very reasonably priced, and satisfying fare. Good drink selection. My wife had the 'Lunch Empanadilla ' special and we were both blown away by the rice and beans that came with it. These aren 't like Azteca restaurant kind of rice and beans. These are perfectly cooked, uniquely spiced rice and beans that you can only get here or in Puerto Rico. Indeed, we were more impressed with them than the actual empanadilla (though it was good, as well)... That 's how amazing they were. I had the Tripleta sandwich which was amazing. Hearty and cheesy, good bread, excellent sweet potato fries as an included accompaniment, and delicious garlic sauce for dipping. We 'll definitely be back.
