Cute location located in the heart of Ballard with indoor and outdoor seating. It has some of the classical cafe sensibilities like the exposed brick and large Italian espresso machine, but it still has some charm like the standing tables in the center and the leather couch. The seating is a little lacking overall, we went late Saturday afternoon and all the tables were taken except outside. We ordered a Cappuccino a... View all feedback.
What D Walker doesn't like about Caffe Umbria:
Caffe Umbria in Seattle is one of the top coffee chains in the city. The staff at the Ballard location is fantastic, excelling both at the register and in preparing and serving drinks to your table. Whether the line is long or you're the only customer, their service is always exceptional. The coffee is consistently top-notch. View all feedback.
We could even get seated during a Sunday when the ballard farmers’ market takes place. the coffee and spinach pack was good, and the washroom was clean. we also love that it is dog-friendly!
Beautiful ambiente in this lively caffe on this icy cold day. our piping hot white chai lattes heated us to the core, while a good friend and I spoke for 2 hours. what I most appreciate is the acoustic in caffe quiet, although the machines steamed and the people gathered, chatting, coworkers coughing. you can really hear your conversation. thank cafe umbria, I'm sorry that you had to throw us out to the end gently. will be back soon!
The old/mid aged lady that works there is extremely rude and unprofessional. She messed up my order and I had to go to work so I couldn’t go back to get what I originally asked for I wanted the spinach egg and feta sandwich thing but instead she gave me an egg ham and bacon. It was EXTREMELY greasy. Like if your planning on laying down after eating it then yeah it’s fine but I have a physically demanding job and I ended up throwing up from it. When I told the lady that took my order that she got it wrong she responded with “well we’ll agree to disagree” and tried to argue with me. It was incredibly frustrating. And on top of all that there coffee sucks. Definitely not going back. Don’t waste your money there.
This coffee shop became the morning hub for meeting up with our local friend and planning each day's itinerary for our 5-day stay. The coffee drinkers loved their brews and I looked forward to a pastry everyday the coconut macaroon is particularly divine. Good health and safety measures are in place and outside seating available too. It was just perfect for our needs
Oof as a former barista I’ve gotta say I was pretty disappointed with the espresso here. The shot in my latte was bitter and burnt both times I’ve tried this spot (I tried to give it a second chance).I’m glad they at least have alternative milk options but no vegan food options which is always a bit of a bummer too, seeing as Seattle has so many great local vegan baked goods they could carry (mighty-o? Hopefully both days I went they were off-days for these folks because everyone working was lovely and it seemed like a nice environment (I got take out).
