What Naomi Rolfson doesn't like about Bamboo Sushi:
The stand out for this sushi restaurant is that everything is Gluten Free on the menu unless otherwise noted. So tempura and crunchy novelty sushi rolls are once again available to those of us with GF issues. That said the sushi was pretty average. This isn't a knock against them, as everything was good. Of the half dozen rolls I ordered, the flavor emphasis wasn't on the fish, but on vegetable or crunch bits in the r... View all feedback.
The food was good, but the service was absolutely terrible. I will never visit this restaurant again. We went on a Friday at 3:45 pm and it wasn't busy at all. Our waitress was unprofessional and seemed uninterested in serving us. Despite one exception, the rest of the staff also did not seem to be working efficiently. The waitress made strange comments about the food and disappeared for long periods of time. When she finally reappeared, she did not apologize or explain her absence. We placed our order but never received our food. Another staff member had to assist with our check as our waitress was distracted with other customers. The restaurant's card reader was broken, causing further delays in payment. We finally settled the bill and left, unimpressed with the overall experience. I doubt we will be returning, as there are plenty of other dining options where customer service is valued.
The sushi at this restaurant was excellent, with beautiful presentation. The rice was perfectly sticky and the rolls held together well. There is a wide variety of sushi rolls to choose from, with unique ingredients not found elsewhere. The wagyu burger was also a good size and not too crowded. Unlike some burgers that become mushy as you eat them, this one held its form well. The only issue was that the restaurant was quite drafty, as seen in a photo showing a large hole in the building. One downside was that there was no complimentary wasabi; instead, it was available for an extra $5 to have freshly grated at the table. This was an unexpected expense at a sushi restaurant.
I was looking for a place to have lunch and coincidentally ended up at Bamboo Sushi. The staff at the hostess desk was very friendly and allowed me to choose where to sit. I opted for the bar so I could watch the sushi chef prepare my meal. I ordered a variety of sushi and everything was fresh and delicious. The chef also recommended two menu items that were exceptional. The bill was a bit pricey, but the experience was definitely worth it.

Food: 3/5We are vegetarians and the place didn’t have many options. The spicy edamame and green machine roll were good and the berry mock tail was refreshing too. Cauliflower tempura was a bit too sweet and saucy and the avacado crispy rice was too bland and sticky.Ambiance: 5/5The ambiance is very classy. Interiors are very nice and they have given special attention to the bathrooms also. An amazing spot for a fancy outing.Service: 5/5Servers are very polite, professional and prompt. Very pleasant!Value: 4/5Will come back again for a couple of dishes that we liked and for drinks. A good balance of fancy outing and some light eats.Sustainability: 4/5They used paper straws and cloth napkins. Did not see any plastic or single use items.
