Even though the menu is limited, this restaurant offers surprisingly delicious vegan choices. I tried the nuts, arugula salad, and gnocchi, all of which were very good. However, the Brussels sprouts with apple slaw and breadcrumbs were exceptional - a perfect 10/10. The cocktail menu was also impressive! View all feedback.
What Sara S doesn't like about The Barrel Thief:
Very expensive for what you are paying for. The food was okay and the drinks were very small and not that great. The service was also very slow, and our waitress didn't seem to know the menu. Our gnocchi was not very flavorful and Brussels sprouts were super undercooked. I would recommend a few other surrounding restaurants before recommending the Barrel Thief to anyone. Great staff and a great mood. her small menu changes frequently and always includes a handful of vegan options. the cashew cream sauce they use on their current flower cauliflower dish is delicious! huge wine selection and great cocktails.
20% automatic gratuity. I wish they just built it into their prices instead of surprise you.Cool place with good service, but the food isn’t that great and it’s a bit pricey. The mushrooms were good though. The beignets were not fully cooked so it tasted like raw dough and sugar.I would go back for a beer
Barrel Thief is an absolute gem. I've gone there through a change of ownership, the pandemic and many other events and it has never managed to disappoint. It is, a tucked away phenomenal bar and restaurant. The Whisk(e)y selection is their main attraction and outside of Cannon, MWS and Jack Rose you'll be hard pressed to find a better variety of high quality whiskies. They have you covered from Bullet all the way to 50yr Glenlivet and specialty whiskies like Whistle Pig's the Spirit of Mauve or Yamazaki.Food changes a bit but I can't say I've had more than one dish I didn't like, and the staff is always receptive to feedback. The titular staff is the best part and while they've changed over the years they are, and continue to be the heart of the restaurant.Barrel Thief with it's whiskey passport, festivity nights and Whiskey vault manages to capture the atmosphere of a Speakeasy but the heart of a well worn local watering hole.If you are in Seattle and the above intrigues you, you are doing yourself a disservice if you do not visit.
The restaurant had a dim and moody atmosphere that enhanced the overall ambiance in a fantastic way. The decor was cute, featuring charming chandeliers and vintage frames in the women's restroom, which added a lovely touch. I tried the Other Side cocktail, made with Ford's Gin, grapefruit, lemon, sherbet, and Pineau de Charentes, topped with Trevari Blanc de Blanc – it was absolutely delicious and refreshing. Make sure to check out their happy hour from 4:00 to 6:00pm, Tuesday to Friday. Just note that they automatically add a 20% tip, so be careful not to tip extra unintentionally. Overall, I highly recommend visiting this place!
