When we first ate here, there was a good range of tasty side dishes to choose fr... read more Sadly, the food at the Beach Hotel has steadily declined in the past two years. When we first ate here, there was a good range of tasty side dishes to choose from that were good value and helped pep up a meal, or you could even make an entire meal out of small share plates etc. I noticed the quality drop off with each menu change over that time, and on my last visit I ordered crumbed mozarella as an appetiser, thinking that sounded good. I was rather appalled to receive what were very obviously those skinny little crumbed mozarella sticks that you can buy in the frozen section at Woolworths etc. (which are quite tasteless) and I have to say this was the final straw. I don 't think I 'll be eating there again. The staff are generally friendly, which is nice. Although I have always found it bothersome that they don 't tend to one of their bars, but they don 't put up a bar closed sign either, so you can stand there for quite a time looking like a dolt, waiting to be served (nobody came to tell me). In fact, after that initial incident, I 've never seen that particular bar open once (although it backs onto the gaming room bar where staff are on duty), so why even have the taps there etc? Why not just put up a closed sign?
