I used to go to Brown's, which is the same type of place as Markey's, and ironically right across the street from them. Markey's is cleaner, quicker, the prices are more reasonable, the portions are much bigger, and the food is done a bit better. I used to go to Brown's, which is the same type of place as Markey's, and ironically right across the street from them. Markey's is cleaner, quicker, the prices are more reasonable, the portions are much bigger, and the food is done a bit better. I ordered a lobster roll (cheaper than all the other seafood places in the area! and it was DROWNED in Lobster. I also ordered a small lobster, which they did all the work for so that all I had to do was slide the meat out. And we shared a seafood plate. My only complaint is that the seafood plate was a bit overcooked. If you want lobster, this is the place to go!
On the highway from 495/95 to the beach, Markey 's and Brown 's are practically across from each other. A few years ago, Markey 's pushed the envelope...and won both my heart and loyalty. Every year since. Read on. You walk in, place your order, and get a number. While they can do it all, the stars are the Ipswich Clams and LOBSTAH!!! You can have whole Lobster (you don 't have to ask where it came from, do you? or Lobster Roll (the most glorious thing that can occur in a hot dog bun Fresh from the Atlantic. The fries are the British chips influence. Go to a table (both indoors and outside and devour. Regardless, you 're on a slightly inland ocean bog, and the salt water in the air just caresses your senses, no charge, from Mother Nature. You understand JFK a little bit better. Markey 's is a rustic, admirable serving of New England coastal atmosphere and seafood bounty. None better. A few years ago, McDonald 's experimented locally with the Lobster Roll. Please. I 'll be back again up there this June. I 'm told lobster prices are sharply up this year. But guess where I 'm going, and for what? Long live Markey 's! Tier II .
