Up from the main street, Trais Portas, is a hidden gem, definitely not to be missed. Situated in a beautiful and traditional Engadiner-house, Trais Portas makes you feel at home with an inviting setup of little rooms and corners, not to mention the beautiful vegetable garden and terrace at the back. The food is full of variety and tastes truly exceptional, and there's a wonderful selection of well chosen wines. The o... View all feedback.
What Donatella Conte doesn't like about Trais Portas:
This restaurant is set in an old charming building. Unfortunately our table was in a small dark room which would have been charming in winter but not so much in summer (our fault because we booked at the last minute but we would have liked...to know). The service was very friendly and welcoming but at times we were forgotten. Food is good and portions generous. We recommend the place but if you can, ask to be in the... View all feedback.
Every time we come back to trais portas, we are elated with the quality of the food and the service that she rejoices on the 18th august:
This tiny 400-year-old bar/restaurant is off Scuol’s main avenue, but it is well worth the climb up the narrow street to find it – if you enjoy meat. We had Christmas Eve dinner here and it was a perfect combination of excellent cuisine, friendly and...professional service and a charming ambience. The beef filet was perfectly cooked and practically melted in the mouth. The spare ribs were amazing and the barbeque sauce was a delicate balance between sweet and tart. Rolf, the owner and waiter, was knowledgeable about wine and provided efficient, friendly service and will give you a thorough explanation of the other meat offerings, which include bison and reindeer. To top off the dinner, you must try the Toblerone mousse.
Great meat, well cooked. Don't go here if you are not hungry as the 300g steak is at least 300g :-) The place is in an old building, booking is recommended as tables are limited. If you have children in a stroller maybe this is not for you as you have to climb some steep stairs to get to the restaurant.
Delicious food, absolutely fantastic staff and great location! Best place in town especially for meat!
Perfect service from the point of view of a very picky person. The food was excellent. Atmosphere is cozy and owner is very welcoming. I recommend the deer if you go there in autumn with the mais pancakes. The pumpkin soup as a starter was amazing. Defo go there if you stop by scuol
