Was Angela P at Av a mag?
I had several bad experiences at the old location in Moosic but have since amended my review for the new spot in Scranton. The menu is not terribly extensive but is executed well. The bar area is beautiful and the drinks complex and delicious. The clientele and price point is slightly more upscale than other places in the area. Sometimes patrons will get a bit too 'animated ' after a few drinks, making it hard to hea... View all feedback.
What Emerson Roberts dislikes about Av:
The atmosphere and service was great. The food on the other hand was mediocre. We got the meatballs, shrimp and octopus for appetizers the octopus was too chewy to really eat, the meatballs were dense (tasted frozen) and the shrimp was fine. We also got a couple of the pasta entrees which were okay. Honestly pretty disappointed in the food. Wouldn’t return there are better options in the area. View all feedback.

Excellent food, served in an amenable atmosphere. The restaurant tends to be very loud. Although the food is good, but would be nice to see the menu changed up with the seasons.
I absolutely love this restaurant. The food, wine, and atmosphere are fantastic. I visited again on the 10th of January, 2024 and I was once again impressed. I went with some coworkers, about 10 of us in total. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was lovely, and the food was outstanding. I ordered the lamb shank osso buco served over mashed potatoes and it was delicious. I highly recommend it.
My boyfriend and I originally came to scranton for a birthday trip for myself.. we had dinner plans somewhere else where we have gone several times before.. we did NOT enjoy this time around so he wanted to save the night and find something to make up for it.. he looked on Google and came across AV Restaurant and from the minute we walked in we were greeted with smiling faces.. The place was super busy so my boyfriend and I relaxed with a drink on their comfy couches while we waited for a table to open up.. not long after we were greeted by our waitress Kaidyn who was outstanding, she made our first time experience that much better.. she told us what we should pick out of choices we gave her and she did not disappoint as everything was so delicious.... we can't wait to come visit again soon
Service staff was good but the food sucks!! Eggplant parmesan was frozen and stale !!
I enjoyed the evening at this pricey upscale restaurant. The calamari was fantastic. Drinks were good. However, my entree of mussels over pasta was tasteless, and the pasta was way overcooked. The atmosphere is very nice, but the table was so tippy that I had to keep my foot on the bottom stand of the table throughout the entire evening. Otherwise, the table would fall over. It almost went over twice! This and the entree with no flavor detracted from the experience. It's disappointing, considering the costs.

I don’t usually do reviews, but I truly had a great time at AV on Thursday— I have never been here before and always wanted to try it. Our server was CJ who was very knowledgeable about the menu helped us choose a wine. We had ordered their octopus baked brie for apps and porcini cavatelli duck for entrees. Both came out better than I could expect and it was very easy to tell the pasta was made fresh. Dinner was also extremely fairly priced for how much work the back of house puts into their food. Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone.
I finally made it in here after passing it downtown a bunch of times. I decided to go here with my boyfriend for our birthday dinner. We got reservations at 6pm and I had to park about 2 blocks away down a dark street. Once inside the atmosphere was nice with real candles on the tables. We started with drinks. I was stuck between the Sauvignon blanc and the rose and the waitress let me taste them to decide which I really appreciated. I went with the rose which was very good. My boyfriend got a gin cocktail that he enjoyed. We started with the calamari which was nice. They also brought out bread but they come by with a basket and serve you one piece on your plate and fill the dish in the middle with plain olive oil. My boyfriend wanted some extra spice so we asked for balsamic vinegar to go with the bread. For dinner I got the scallops and he got the salmon. They were both super good, but there was something soaked in balsamic vinegar on the plate with the scallops and I thought that was too much punch for the plate. For dessert we got the crème brûlée. I personally prefer the custard part to be in a more shallow and wide dish. It seemed like a small caramelized crust on a thick bowl of custard here. We boxed up our leftovers and were absolutely bummed to find out we left them at the table after arriving home. All in all it was pretty good and I would go again!!
We recently had the pleasure of working with Lisa at AV for a pre-wedding welcome reception in October 2023. We were looking for a private space with good food and drinks so that our wedding guests could get to know each other the night before the event. From our very first meeting, Lisa took the time to listen to our ideas, preferences, and expectations and worked with her team at AV to execute flawlessly. Our guests loved the food and craft cocktails, and overall it was a wonderful way to spend a little extra time with friends and family on a very busy weekend.

If I had been more familiar with the Scranton area, I would have chosen to dine here with my partner instead of our two young children. Despite feeling a bit out of place, the friendly staff put us at ease completely. The kids had a fantastic first upscale dining experience, enjoying sipping lemonade from elegant glasses and digging into spaghetti and meatballs. Our waiter was excellent and attentive, and the food was delicious. We will definitely be returning! What a gem in the charming downtown area of Scranton.
We visited this restaurant on Valentine's Day and we are so happy we did. The atmosphere is lovely and the food was outstanding. They have a great selection of craft beer. Check out the photos. The staff were all very friendly and attentive to our needs. We highly recommend this restaurant. It is excellent!
The food and service at this restaurant are fantastic. We always enjoy our time here. The appetizers, especially the arancini, are delicious. During our recent visit, I had one of the best salmon dishes I have ever tasted. It was so good that I ordered it again when we returned a few days later. The lamb special was also exceptional, and they are very accommodating with dietary restrictions. Overall, it is an excellent dining experience with personalized service. We highly recommend the AV restaurant!
Where should I start? first, the personal is amazing. every one of the hostages to the bartenders and waiter makes you home. I have eaten a countless amount of time at this point and enjoyed so many great meals. there were some misfortunes here and there, but at any time, if I was not satisfied, was properly treated. secondly, I played here as a musician in jazz nights prekovid and the owners and bar employees treat them like a customer, not like a lesser person who happens to places. from anywhere I eat in the scranton area, this place is the only one I always love to eat. I'll see you soon amanda, pat, josh, tom, and everyone else.
A great atmosphere. The exposed brick and metal ceiling tiles add to the overall ambiance of the restaurant. The staff was knowledgeable and courteous rounding-out the fine dining experience. The food is delicious and one can tell that no corners were cut in the preparation of the meal. Reasonable prices on food and drink make this a place you can enjoy not only on a special occasion.

If I had been more familiar with the Scranton area, I would have decided to have dinner at this restaurant with my husband instead of bringing our two toddlers along. We initially felt out of place, but the friendly staff quickly made us feel at ease. Our children had a great time experiencing their first upscale dining experience, enjoying lemonade from elegant glasses and eating spaghetti and meatballs. Our waiter was fantastic, providing attentive service, and all of our meals were delicious. We will definitely return to this restaurant, as it is a valuable addition to the charming downtown Scranton area.
We visited this restaurant for Valentine's Day and we are so glad we did. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was exceptional. They have a great selection of craft beers as well. Be sure to take a look at the photos. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive to all of our needs. We highly recommend AV - it's excellent!
Where to start... first of all the staff is incredible. Everyone from the hosts to the bartenders and waitstaff make you feel like home. I've eaten here an innumerable amount of times at this point and have enjoyed so many great meals. There have been some misses here and there but anytime I wasn't satisfied was handled appropriately. Secondly, I've played here as a musician on Jazz nights pre-covid and the owners and bar staff treat you like a customer, not like a lesser human which happens at places. Out of everywhere I eat in the Scranton Area this place is the only one I always get excite to eat at. See you soon Amanda, Pat, Josh, Tom and everyone else on the staff.
The AV Restaurant offers great food and service. We always enjoy our time there. Their appetizers are all very tasty, but the arancini stands out as excellent. During our recent visit, I had one of the best salmon dishes I've ever tasted. It was so good that I ordered it again when we returned a few days later. The lamb special was also excellent. The staff is very attentive to dietary concerns. Overall, I highly recommend The AV Restaurant for their excellent food and service.

The bar area is beautiful and the drinks complex and delicious. The clientele and price point is slightly more upscale than other places in the area. Definitely a great date night spot or a place to meet friends for an after-work cocktail.
