I sent back my salad. My friend ordered a small Cesar salad. I ordered a large. They came as the same size. Server said mine weighed more than the small one. It weighed more because I added chicken. So they gave me more lettuce. Rather stingy on large salad size View all feedback.
What GinaK doesn't like about Thompson 105:
Had a party of six for brunch on the patio. I ordered the Avocado toast which I would not order again. Presentation was beautiful but it is served on focaccia bread so it is very awkward to eat...knife doesn't cut well and picking it up with your hands is messy and not a good look. It comes with “lox” which were just a very overcooked salmon bites that were chewy and was a strange taste with the rest of the dish. Hus... View all feedback.
Dinner was fabulous, and our server, Hunter, was amazing! This was our first visit and we had lots of questions. Hunter answered each one with ease and a smile, and even consulted with the head chef for us a couple of times. My husband and our friends had the evening's special, Grouper, and the fish and chips, and I had the Prawn Spaghetti. All of the food was superb! We topped it all off with the skillet brownie, key lime pie, and cheese cake. These desserts were awesome. In addition, it began to rain before we were finished eating. Hunter and the manager were very quick to re-seat us comfortably indoors even though the restaurant was full. We live in the East Valley, so the restaurant is a little out of our way, but despite this we will definitely return very soon.
The gnocchi was excellent. The prime rib was cooked perfectly with great flavor but was very, very fatty for prime rib... which is saying something. Sometimes, it 's just the piece of meat, so I would definitely try it again. The hamburger was a thick patty, cooked perfectly, and was described as meaty deliciousness. The chicken sandwich was kind of meh as the breaded coating fell off. Service was attentive and good, but they told us a gnocchi entree is big enough for two people, which made it seem fairly small even though it was a good portion for a single entree.
The awesome location makes this establishment the neighborhood gem of McDowell Mountain Ranch. The food is delicious, and the large indoor outdoor bar and patio space make this a great restaurant to have drinks or food. The locals love it here, as well as the tourist renters from the area. This restaurant has changed names over the last two decades. I hope the best for this restaurant and bar. I hope they make it. I haven't had a bad experience here, nor have I had a good one. For me, the food was done right. I wish I could say the smashed burger was awesome. I will say that the chicken sandwich is my favorite so far. I've been in many times and managed to stay under the radar for customer service from behind the bar. Everyone seems to be recognized and happy to come here. Again, I am rooting that this place makes it.
Group of six of us were somehow seated at”The King's Table”, up front and separate. Mario was our (excellent! server and we all had a wonderful evening! The pasta dishes in particular were superb and fork-fuls were shared amongst the group. The restaurant is “lively” most evenings, especially during high season. The Kings Table (seats up to 10! made conversation a bit easier and enjoyable. Thank you Thompson 105 for ANOTHER great night!
Great food and service. We will be returning very soon!
