I had a great time dining at this restaurant. The food was delicious and I especially enjoyed the margaritas. The Mexican cuisine was traditional and satisfying. The enchiladas were a standout for me. Normally, I stick to the appetizer menu, which is always plenty for me. However, this time I decided to go all out and ended up leaving completely satisfied. This restaurant is a lovely spot to gather with friends and enjoy some good food. However, I must mention that the prices for certain items have become quite high compared to the quality of the food. For example, a large tostada costing $15 mostly consisted of lettuce with a sparse amount of meat. Additionally, if you want to add a different type of meat, it will cost an extra $6. Eating was good, especially the veggie enchilada. sangria wasn't fresh, but cloudy, so I said we didn't want it. from then on, the waiter had a very bad attitude and simply threw things on the table for the rest of the meal. the whole meal was spoiled.
A good go-to Mexican restaurant. S.V is chock full of Mexican restaurants, so the food is pretty much the same and the prices are a little high, but it is a large place with great seating and usually sports are playing on TV in the bar. The bar is quite comfortable and servers are as accommodating as they are to restaurant patrons

I went to Maya Mexican Restaurant for dinner drinks on a Friday night. Totally packed. The food was good it met my expectations based on the overall impression I had prior to going there. I ordered the combination fajitas and shared a pitcher of the house margaritas. The fajitas were good, the ingredients were fresh and cooked just right. The beef and shrimp were better than the chicken. The guacamole, rice, and beans were quite good. By contrast, I didn’t care for the margaritas. Go with a frozen margarita rather than the traditional. There were plenty of servers, but service was slow. Given the number of guests, I didn’t really get worked up about it.
Those people that gave this place 5 stars don't know how Mexican food should taste. I've lived in Scotts Valley for over 30 years. Been to Maya several times with friends and family in the hopes that it somehow got better. It did not. Chips are usually day old stale/recycled. Food is bland and unappealing. Drinks are over priced. Do yourself a favor and drive 10 more minutes to downtown SC and hit up El Palomar. The restaurant has excellent food. The bar has awesome drinks (jalepeno Margaritas are superb)! And the taco bar is the best I've ever had! Skip Maya unless you want plain tasting old food.
