What Tracy Blair doesn't like about Don's Specialty Meats Phone Number, Reservations, Reviews:
Got a Shrimp Po boy, a Seafood and a Pepper Jack Boudin Ball. The Shrimp on the Po Boy was good. The sandwich itself as a whole was not. We originally stopped in to purchase some specialty meats. They really did not look appealing. Left without buying anything... View all feedback.
First time trying the boudin and crackling. It was very delicious. We will definitely make a trip from Houma LA to Don's anyday!
Stopped in on our way through to get our son so.e boudin and cracklin! Attendants were very nice, store was very clean. Cannot comment on the food, did not eat, but it was crowded so apparently a lot of people like it!
Food was good and alot to choose from store. Merchandise
Love going to this place for years. Best Cajun food. It is more like a grocery store, restaurant and gift shop all in one.
Went out of my way to come here. It had been so long since I had had some good cracklins, so I stopped by to grab a bag from Don 's. I should 've known something was up when I walked through the door and there was the faint smell of burned oil in the air. I got a bag anyway, and soon as we got back on the interstate, I couldn 't wait anymore, I was excited to dig in. I opened the bag to find the worst quality cracklins I have ever purchased. Extremely dry, smelled and tasted burnt, and were hard as a rock. Almost seems like leftovers they tried to pass as fresh from the day before by throwing them back in the grease to warm them up. Since I spent nearly 20 dollars on them and was too far to turn back I did my best to try to not waste them. I work hard for my money just like you. I was so let down. They smelled up the whole car. When you bite into a cracklin you 're expecting to be a little chewy, hot and fresh, and it 's so dry if you do have the strength to chew it it turns to a chokable stringy dust, that is a let down. I had an entire bag of just that. If you take some time to go through the reviews on here, I believe this must be an ongoing problem as this is not the only complaint about the cracklins. The people selling the cracklins should be required to sample them. No WAY if they 'd taste one of these they 'd try to sell them. The sticker on the bag says quality first and best homemade boudin and cracklins . I am a Louisiana resident and native and I can tell you these slogans miss their mark. This is actually the second time I 've had bad cracklins here. This review, however is of the ones I just purchased. If you are reading this and stop there, please ask for a sample if you 're ordering seasoned pork cracklins . They should have a little give and should be meaty and tender and full of flavor. If they have an off burnt taste or they 're so dry they seem to swell and choke you, pass on them. Scott Louisiana is supposed to be where everyone wants to stop to get some amazing cajun food and snacks and there 's too much competition in that area for you to waste your money. To be noted and fair: this review should not be taken as a direct reflection of other items this business sells. I only purchased cracklins on this trip and nothing else. I 've bought meats and boudin here for years and it 's always good quality. The staff is always friendly and eager to help. Thank you.
