Excellent!! If you've never had cracklins before, ask for a sample, they're very kind here and will introduce you right. While not traditional, I preferred the chicken to the pork and the seafood boudin was amazing. Definitely worth the 5 minute detour from the freeway. View all feedback.

Dons can be excellent some days and just ok on others. Yesterday was just so-so. I had a plate lunch, bbq sausage. I thought it a little dry and over cooked. But in all fairness I got there after 12 noon, which usually relegates one to the leftovers. Their fresh meat is ALWAYS excellent and a really special treat for those who stop from out of town. Fresh food , well prepared and seasoned well, but staff could be a bit more friendlier/ professional.
All I can say is OMG!!!! I should've known the food would be amazing when the line was almost out the door!! The wait was definitely worth it! Boudin and crawfish balls did not disappoint. I wasn't sure what to expect when we walked in. Lots of refrigerated meats, boudin and sausage alongside other meats. Clean and quick service.
Saw a bunch of billboards on our drive on I-10 so I asked my wife to stop. She love boudin so it was an easy sell. We pull d up at 10:30 in a Sunday morning and there was a line of cars in the drive thru and when I got inside a line at the order counter. They have frozen, refrigerated, and fresh fried options. The line moved quick so don't let that deter you. We got a 6 different items from the fried options and the best was the fried boudin with pepper jack cheese. Super flavorful boudin, cheese was nicely melted and the batter was equivalent to what you get on a great piece of fried chicken. So damn good!!! Ambiance is meat market/grocery store. Clean restrooms too. Don't be a jerk and just stop to use their restrooms. Do yourself, and the owners, a favor and pick up a sampler of their goodies.
We have thought for many years this is the best place for boudin and specifically the boudin balls with pepper Jack cheese. This time they were not piping hot and seemed to have been sitting there for a while. Perhaps the cooking batches are too big? So now it's time to try others... And that we did. Billy's still great but across the street at Don's wee better cracklins. And the better boudin balls.... Another Billy's location!!!! I didn't know there were more locations. Yeah!
This is the place to get some Boudin! I tried every type they had to offer plus the cracklins and it was all very tasty! There is no place to sit inside or out, so plan to take it to go. They lost a star because the girl behind the counter had a "I 'm annoyed to be here taking your order "attitude.
