Avoid.

I asked if he knew the plac... read more We chanced upon this place because I made a wrong turn after leaving the fish harbor at Sciacca, literally. There was a guy outside. I asked if he knew the place and he said it was OK. That turned out to be a typical Sicilian understatement……. Admittedly, if you mind sitting on plastic chairs and using paper napkins, this is not the place for you. BUT number one you sit practically on the beach ! The sea is less than 50 meters away. How they got a permit for that if they ever did beats me, but they have been there since 1993, which is a good sign. Number two, great seafood ! We tried the mixed fried, sharing one, which was light and tasty, followed by clearly homemade fettuccine with sea urchins and then a slice of sword fish with tomatoes and olives. A pistachio parfait concluded the lunch. This being February, the patrons were all local, which is a good sign, but I speak Italian not necessarily a language Sicilians speak with pleasure by the way so getting by was easy. The boss was friendly I did not try his English but he looks like he should not have any language problems and the food arrived quickly. It was superb ! By far the best meal in Sicily so far !!! Try it but be gentle with the family operating this remarkable joint: they look like they don’t suffer fools gladly……. Prices are very reasonable.
