Great view. Very clear range of food. No fries, no pretzels or snacks, although that would be durable and a manageable expense. Prices reasonable. Everything has to be brought into the middle of the mountains. The people who ate something were super happy. What User doesn't like about Bleckenau Bergaststatte:
The service was good, fast and friendly, the food was okay so far but if you pay over 75 euros for four lentil soups (two of which were small portions), four soft drinks and three cappuccinos, you definitely won't see me again. Berühmtes Berggasthaus in malerischer Lage.
We walked up to Bleckenau from Hohenschwangau via the neuschwanstein castle and suspension bridge. The walk has some steep parts but it is manageable as you can choose to go by road.It took about 40 minutes to the castle, leisurely pace and taking photos and then just under 1 hour to Bleckenau. There is a bus to both the castle (as well as horse drawn carriages) and then a bus from the suspension bridge to Bleckenau, (minibus size), this Bleckenau Bus only seems to run a couple on the hour between 11 and 5pm, although the restaurant is on until 6pm.If you don't speak German, then download your translation app before your walk, as once at the restaurant the menu is in German and the hosts did not speak much, if any English.! There is no phone signal or wifi that we found and the apple strudel which is all we wanted, as well as a couple of drinks, wasn't served until after 2pm. This is a lovely mountain restaurant and spot nestled half way up the Bavarian alps, sitting at about 1000m, it can easily be reached walking, cycling and of course via road.Bear in mind that as you go up, the weather can change very quickly, the temperature is much cooler and the weather in hohenschwangau is not normal, one day it can be 20'degree sunshine, the next barely above freezing and rain or snow, dependant on the time of year. The weather can come in quick so take some layers and coats no matter the weather below. The walk up is through the mountains and alongside a river and number of other water streams is very beautiful, as is the whole area.Sadly I am not able to review the food due to not being able to translate or order anything but definitely worth a trip and a quieter option than the town itself.
Aussicht eher bescheiden.
