I had one of the best bowls of soup ever here! The place I was headed to pick up some lunch was closed for renos and there was a sign pointing next door. It turned out to be a very nice surprise. The service was really good and everyone in there seemed to be really enjoying the experience. I ordered take out and watched the food coming out of the kitchen. My mouth was watering as it looked and smelled wonderful. We w... View all feedback.
What Jerrold Gerlach doesn't like about The Scruffy Duck Restaurant:
We went here for a later lunch on a weekday and the place was empty except for us. Between the three of us we had two burgers and a french onion soup. The burgers were rather dry and flavourless. The buns were just thrown together, not warm, not toasted. The french onion soup was so incredibly salty it tasted like I was drinking salt water. Service was ok. Local pub with great eats and great wings. On some evenings there is even live music which is local and fun.
Uninspired, boring, ordinary pub food but prices are higher than most comparable pubs. The sides - if any, are meager and equally boring or over-priced. Portions are average or slightly less. A lot of the menu's items are discontinued as evidenced by blacked-out listings. Shabby. Unique, fun atmosphere - too bad not capitalizing on it.
A few years ago we discovered this quaint place and re visited it many times with guests. We hasn't been back for more than a year and were in the area and of course wanted to drop in. We were both disappointed. The French Onion soup was good but the club sandwich left a lot to be desired. Please don't try to reinvent a club!!!! The big slab of tough chewy chicken on thick sour dough bread is not a club! The fries tasted of stale fryer oil. I know you can do better. Pub or No.... a menu with blackout markings of foods no longer available does not speak well for the venue , And would someone please clean up the weed garden! Service is still friendly and hospitable.
Been here a few times. Lots of at home cozy food. Really cool place to eat in. The only thing is the menu changes too much. There were things I really enjoyed and upon my next visit I'm told it gone. For the life of them save the deep fried pickles!
Terrific family owned restaurant. Menu has something for everyone. Great large area to book a group. Sometimes service is a bit slow but always good, hot, homemade food!
