Walk till the end of the glacier and enjoy the full unobstructed view from quille du Diable. Warm welcome, great food, and great service! Wine list is also good even if not so full but understanding where they are located .
We visited here in the summer but in the winter it is a different perspective with the surrounding mountains as far as the eye can see covered in snow creating a majestic setting. It is the only restaurant on the piste quite some way by foot or skiing from the exit of gondola with its facilities. It is worthwhile to spend a little time taking in the surroundings as it sits on the edge of a precipice and sheer drop The food remains homemade simple and quality the pumpkin soup was the perfect antidote
At the end of an easy 40 minutes long glacier walk, this super cute little restaurant rewards with stunning views and great mountain comfort food. Their bündber barley soup is hot and well seasoned, a rarity in many Swiss restaurants, and the tarte tatin is baked to perfection on a super thin base layer and then served exactly as it should be. As the place is tiny inside, it is likely that one will have to sit outside where it can get quite windy so these foods are absolutely perfect warm-me-ups. It is worth checking beforehand if they are open as it is weather dependent, the lovely owner was quick to respond to reassure that they will indeed be open.
You appreciate after over an hour glacial walk you have something to look forward to.The reference point is an extraordinary monolithic rock rising up from the glacier The restaurant in some ways is an eyesore from a distance or a blot in front of this rock and expectations lower quickly but once you reach the other side the wow factor kicks in,The terrace sits right on the edge of the cliff face and tumbles down thousands of metres. The monolithic rock sits precariously and proudly a spectacle. At this pint you do not care whether the food is bad average or good but you want to absorb this extraordinary vista with a cool drink in hand,But to our surprise the bonus was a delicious healthy lentil salad with mixed vegetables in a location off the beaten track 3000 metres above sea level Contrary to other reviews we had excellent engaging service at a time when all the tables were occupied The simplicity of the terrace and menu was in tune with its rustic nature
This place is pretty renowned for being slow and we'd been before, so we weren't expecting a super speedy visit. However, yesterday we waited over an hour and a half to eventually receive the wrong drinks and no food, so left both hungry and angry at having wasted so much of the afternoon. The staff were rude, challenged us when we politely asked (several times... where our order was. No system in place to make sure things run smoothly, different staff taking orders and bringing food so no consistency, things being lost and forgotten all over the place. I've never walked out of a restaurant before but we had to leave empty-stomached in order to get the cable car down on time. It's a real shame because the view is completely breathtaking and the food, if it arrives, is pretty good, but the service was so bad this time that we won't bother again. Go and see the view and then have lunch somewhere else!
