Second time here, I was not wrong the first time. Food is absolutely delicious, great service. Had the tortellini the first time, lasagna this time. Excellent service and food to eat.
As far as taste goes we will say it was tasty and flavorful. We both got the chicken Marolo. But the service for dine in was horrid. Well i guess i should say the hostess stand service was terrible as we never got seated. Lady put us on a wait list, okay thats fair its saturday and we didnt have a reservation. No issues there. She tells us itll be about 45 minutes, again okay thats fine. We toldher wed wait but outside and wed come back in, she said okay, come back before 45 minutes because you never know. I set a timer for 28 minutes. We went back inside expecting to still have to wait. The hostess and host had a whole conversation about us in front of us. Weve never felt so uncomfortable, it was so unprofessional. We watched them seat a 2 top without a reservation that had been waiting way less time than us then the hostess came over and told us itd be too long of a wait and we should look into going somewhere else excuse me!? We then got exiled to the take out section which is night and day compared to the dining area. So ghetto and filthy, kitchen and counter staff looked extremely frazzled. All in all very disappointed in the experience. We wouldve asked to speak to the managers but i am almost positive the host and hostess we encountered were either management or ownership. So I suppose thats a dud.
What a great place to go for dinner. Excellent service, and the Food was Fantastic.. Everyone there was so friendly. Prices were very reasonable. We will be back .

Hands down best Italian left in the area. We both got chicken parm. It was the best we have had in the capital district. The clam chowder soup and meatballs were awesome too some of the best we have ever had! We hope the owners stay open for many years to come and the recipes don't change

Sorry for the long and detailed review, but we were extremely disappointed with our choice of Canali's Italian Restaurant to celebrate our daughter's birthday. After being seated, we enjoyed the delicious bread, but unfortunately, the evening took a turn for the worse. For an Italian restaurant, the lack of Italian beer was surprising. It was very busy, and while the service was slow, we were not in a rush, so that was manageable. We started with Fried Calamari, but as soon as it arrived, we realized it was just basic frozen calamari rings thrown into a fryer, rather than the fresh calamari we had expected. My husband ordered Linguini Louisa with white clam sauce and asked about the type of clams used. He was told they were baby clams, so he placed the order and requested it be served al dente. When his dish arrived, the waitress immediately apologized, saying there had been a mix-up, and he received spaghetti instead of linguini, and it wasn't al dente. She offered to have a new meal prepared, but he didn’t want to wait for another one and is not one to complain, so he opted to eat it. However, once he tasted it, he realized they had used canned clams instead of fresh, which left him quite disappointed. My 90-year-old mother ordered the Garlic Veal Cutlet. While the veal had good flavor, it was swimming in an excessive amount of butter and sherry sauce, to the point where she had to use several napkins to soak up some of the oil. When we mentioned this to the waitress, she simply said she would inform the owner. The birthday girl ordered Louisa's Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, and her sister had the Tortellini Alfredo. Both portions were large, but unfortunately, they were bland in flavor. My friend ordered Chicken Marsala, which is usually her favorite at Canali’s, but although it had decent taste, the pasta was overcooked and not al dente. Overall, our experience was disappointing, especially considering it was a special occasion.
This restaurant is fantastic! While traveling on the toll road, we were looking for a place to have dinner and decided to order takeout. The food was outstanding! Everything was expertly prepared, the sauce on the Marsala was heavenly, and the portions were generous. We scheduled our pickup for a specific time, and everything was hot and ready when we arrived. If it weren't for the 600-mile drive to get to this place, we would definitely dine here regularly. Schenectady is truly fortunate to have such a wonderful restaurant!

Firstly, it was a disappointing experience overall. I ordered shrimp scampi and had a hair in the side dish and the shrimp tasted like dirty dish water. They took it back to the kitchen and I got another seafood dish that was actually delicious. Scallops cooked perfectly and sauce was perfectly seasoned.Unfortunately they did not comp my meal and only offered a free slice of cake. With so many other Italian restaurants in the capital region to choose from, I don’t think I’ll be ever returning to this restaurant.

We had a party catered by Canali's today and it was amazing! Marsala, baked ziti, meatballs, tortellini Alfredo, sausage and peppers......it was delicious!! The staff was great to work with, the food was hot and plentiful. I highly recommend using Canali's for catering! #fivestarfood
You Just can't get Italian Food in California like I so miss at Canali's Restaurant in Rotterdam NY. All my East Coast Artists and Listeners if you haven't eaten here yet Go visit Canali's and Tell them DJ Steve O sent ya! You'll Love the place!
Always a favorite in Schenectady! Traditional Italian at its best and best shrimp around this side of Maine!
My husband and I enjoyed a date night while our daughter attended a kids’ event for a few hours. Initially, I was concerned about the long wait between being seated, ordering, and receiving our meal—it took about an hour after ordering. However, the wait was definitely worth it. The food was delicious, generously portioned, and fresh, allowing us to enjoy leftovers for two more meals the next day. If the meal had taken any longer, we would have asked for it to be packed to go, but everything tasted homemade and perfectly prepared. In the end, the experience was wonderful, and we highly recommend Canali’s to anyone who loves authentic Italian cuisine!

It's slightly out of the way, but definitely worth the trip. I asked on Facebook who has the best Alfredo in the capital region, and Canali's came out on top. I went ahead and made a reservation...
I absolutely love this restaurant! The service and food are both excellent. It’s a local family-owned establishment that has been celebrating 75 years in business—congratulations to them! They truly deserve it.

Excellent food and customer service. Prices were very reasonable for a small gathering. Would of been good to know the basement banquet room is not wheelchair accessible.
This place is great. Sauce, heavenly. Everything is cooked perfectly. They get fried haddock right every time! Many years ago the Alfredo was somehow a little better. Today it is a bit saltier and ?thick?. But it is still good! Portions? Any dish you order for takeout can feed two. They just do not skimp. The standard side sides ? pasta, veggies and potatoes are as good as the entrees. The meatball here is famous. Pasta and meatball can be extraordinary?
Came in this afternoon with a party of 12 for a couple birthdays. Everything was great and our server, Kelsey was fantastic. She was polite, friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Great job Kelsey!
This restaurant is amazing! We were traveling on the toll road and wanted a restaurant for dinner. We ordered takeout and stopped to get it. The food was incredible! Everything was very well made, sauce on the Marsala was heavenly and the portions were very large. We ordered for a specific time and the food was hot and ready for us on arrival. If we didn?t have to drive 600 miles to get up this place we?d eat here all the time. Schenectady is so lucky to have this place!
Great food and great service. The sauce is delicious! They have the to-go part of the business down to a science. Food was ready on time and hot. Definitely will be back soon!
