Calypso - Sayulita

We popped into Calypso for Sunday brunch and unfortunately we were disappointed. To start off, half the menu was unavailable because one of their cooks hadn't arrived. So we chose other items on the menu that were available - not a big deal. Mimosas were watered down and tasted like weak orange juice. When our food arrived it wasn't what we expected at all. They put their own seafood spin on some classic Mexican brunch menu items and we just didn't care for it. My son ordered the French Toast - even that was different and not in a good way. We're always up to try new things but it just wasn't good. We noticed the table next to us sent some of their food back. We paid the bill, left our food and found another spot to eat. The location is great - right in the middle of the square in downtown Sayulita. I just can't recommend the brunch.

This used to be one of our favourite dinner restaurants. Great view of the town square when activities are going on. Unfortunately, their menu changed this year, and all their great dishes are gone. There were 5-6 entries I used to love, & all are are gone. As well, the few salads my wife liked are gone too. Previous years, we would go there at least 3-4 nights a month, but now will not be back this winter season.

Delicious, the pulpo and fish are amazing. This the only restaurant that for sure got no one in my group sick. We ate here twice we liked it so much.

Location is what earned 4 stars for me, sitting on the second level and watching the town square light up at night was great!No complaints with the food but nothing special. They try to have a rather swanky menu with things like 'braised short rib in a red wine sauce' but it was all just fairly basic flavor wise. They claim to have wifi but we couldn't get the password to work. Maybe we didn't try hard enough, but I don't go out to eat to get on my phone.

I have to say that last time we have visited we have noticed the menu and the quality of food had greatly improved. The service was very nice, the food tasty. The only regret I have is the under utilization of the place. Owners listen!- put some Sat or Sun dancing in it for 30 and over with live music or dj, you have such a big space seating empty.
