Harju Portti - Savonlinna

Quite surprisingly for such a remote location, Harjun Portti offers a whopping six vegan options in their menu. Most are converts from their omni-counterparts, but judging by our two meals, the quality did not suffer from this at all. Not fine dining for sure, but absolutely the most options within a couple hundred kilometers! The chef/server told us that they really try to accomodate vegans among other special diets, so you can expect the menu to stay the same way for the foreseeable future. I tried two of her vegan options and both were delicious. Unexpected! Very recommended!

A very basic looking gas station right next to the beautiful lake Saimaa. We went here to eat lunch with my sister-in-law and were somewhat nervous when there was something vegan on the menu (and if it were to eat). What a treat! I had caramelized since then with potatoes and a fresh salad and my spouse took the Seitanburger with sweet potato fries. Even the child Mayo was vegan. Absolutely delicious food here!
