It was Monday and this Restaurant was opened so we were lucky. We went there in 6 people. It is difficult to tell you what we ate because NO English menu. One of staff spoke good English and explained us what is in card and we chose some of regional meals. Dishes were good but nothing spectacular. It my first meeting with this regional cuisine but I feel it is not my taste. Restaurant is located in basement but quite... View all feedback.
We arrived in Saverne on a cold wet evening wondering where to partake of our evening meal. We set off for town and came across a gem. It was an inviting bunker restaurant well lit and warm. The menu was copious, prices were moderate and the plates substantial. The wines were very reasonably priced. The owners fussed around their Aussie visitors and gave us an excellent run down on the specialties of their restaurant. The food was most enjoyable and the sweets menu extensive and really scrumptious.
We had been there once for dinner and lunch and we tried to make reservations for another dinner. There was no more room. Also not for the following night, but, they accepted us as standby and they would call if they had a cancellation. They did and they called us. Super friendly and helpful staff, delicious food--each time I was there, in a party of four, I tried the chef's special, big portions, moderate prices. The place was also very clean.
We had a great meal here. The staff were wonderful, the food great and as we could not eat all our set meal we were given doggy bags .
Spent the last two weeks in France cruising a canal and touring Champagne. This was the best place I ate the entire time. Great food, great service, wonderful presentation, good wine and desserts. The aroma coming from this place first caught our attention. It's a small cozy cellar right off the canal. We tried to get in first on a Saturday night, but the place was packed. We made reservations for later in the week and arranged our trip back thru the canals to be sure we could eat here. Was as good as we had hoped.
